So i did a first clean for a big house 8 weeks ago tomorrow, The evening after i did the clean i get a phone call of the demented o.c.d. hag saying ive scratched her door handles (of all things) Anyway i wnet straight round and demonestrated to her satifation that this is not possible
The thing is she is due for her next claen tomorrow, i just fear that there will be something wrong after the next clean too. So i was thinking, should i just dumop her or give her a 2nd chance? ;D I'm all up for dumping as she stinks of trouble this one!

i have one exactly the same,3 cleans, 3 complaints..........." this pole system not upto it..your the second one i have had" i did actually say to her "when did you develop ocd " she pays by standing order but i think one more clean and any more complaints we will have to part
-
Use gracie ju-jitsu on her. Seems to solve every other problem...

sometimes after you set a customer straight like you have this time they can turn out to be a good one but you will know with your instincts like the other guy said

i bet these people get passed round from window cleaner to window cleaner.... we have the same type of customers from time to time. best to dump them. they make life stressfull! 8)

Thanks for the reply's lads. I feel that this custy is a bit of an oddball... Infact no, she is defo and oddball ;D. So iv'e made up my mind to give her an excuse and dump her. I'm just gonna say that due to changes i can no longer service the property.
Out of interest would anyone tell her the trush and say. "To be honest mrs £$%"£". I feel that your always gonna find a problem with every clean i do and there fore i can't keep you as a custy" Or something along those lines? ;D

Be honest.
Not rude-just honest.
-
I would explain that the standard you have cleaned to previously is what she can expect from you in the future and then ask her if she happy to proceed on that basis.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
-
"Would you tell her the truth?"
Raises hand.
I'm sorry Mrs O'Seedeigh but when you accused me of scratching your doorhandles I realised I was dealing with someone who doesn't think things through before calling me back to put things right which I couldn't possibly have done wrong.
I firmly believe it was a ridiculous and frivolous complaint and further I believe that working for you will raise my stress levels inappropriately. So I have decided we should part company and I respectfully ask you to find another window cleaner.
Or...
Oh dear, Mrs O'Seedy, the buses don't go where you live do they? Find another window cleaner please.

Some good honest replys there. thankyou everyone. I think i really need to chill out if i'm ever gonna last in this business to be honest. I get all qittery and feel my temper raising with some idiots lol
My dad was just the same, infact he was worse. Hehe. Its not a good way to be though if your trying to be a business man is it! :(
Cheers lads

I've got one like that - but she only complains for a missed finger mark on an internal georgian pane or a tiny run on an ally framed window.
That I can cope with; it's when they start saying you've scratched things or damaged "the seals" that I get a bit wary.
-
GB-thought the Kung fu would keep you calm?
All that woo sah and rubbing your ear lobes etc...
On a positive note-as soon as business goes well enough for you that it doesn't matter whether you keep or lose a customer, you will definitely calm down a bit.
When you've 3 months money in the bank with no debt you'll soon chill out.
Focus on that point in life-it'll really help.
If you're already there-ignore previous comment and hope for the best

I have been straight in the past sometimes but worded it a bit better. Something like "It would appear that the service you require and the service I can supply are incompatible." That way it's a "no fault" conclusion.

So a customer complains once and that's it she loses her window cleaner?
The mind boggles ::)roll

I would clean it again without question.
I have had customers like this lots of times, usually all they are doing is checking you out as a tradesman to see if you are the type of person who would come back if they have a problem or one that will cut and run at the first sign of problems. (like your doing)
After all, your going to be on there property regularly why shouldn't they test your services?
I would bet now you have proved your a decent guy who returned immediately you will have put her mind at rest and she wont bother you again.
Instead Its now probably a nice 8 weeker for your competition to pick up. :)

thats rubbish ! no insult intended but "once a nut always a nut" is the gods honest truth about that type of person . youre hiding your head in the sand if you think youre on safe ground with them
not so long ago i had a similar experience, complaint about dirty frames. now what the customer didnt know as she wasnt there was my 3 workers + yours truly swarmed over this small house with me overseeing AND doing his bit . nothing was missed
well ,i ignored her complaint and a week later she complained again, this time adding in missed windows+ the fact id ignored her first complaint . i dont know what her problem is, maybe skint, maybe wanting a row ,heat exhaustion, all i do know is she isnt straight up and honest ,like the original post woman

Calling me back because she's "testing me out as a tradesman?" Good Grief! Leaving marks or runs, fine I'll be straight back but scratching door handles? I can do without that kind of testing thanks.
It makes me testy.

I seriously wonder why some people choose to go into the service industry if they cant deal with ALL types of customers.
