Title: HELP I Cannot get the plastic clips back in on my RO 40 40 housing

I am getting really peed off, what have I done wrong?

Undid the plastic clamps on 4040
pulled out the black stoppers
Removed black plastic o ring
Removed membrane
put in new membrane
reput in plastic o ring
Put in black stoppers
CANNOT GET PLASTIC CLAMPS IN???? I CAN GET SOME OF IT IN BUT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF THE GROOVE LEFT.

Would seriously be grateful for any advice .

a tap on the end of the membraine so it in right  ;)
