Title: Gutter vac 50 or 38mm ?
Post by: wpclean on July 14, 2013, 04:03:28 pm
Trying to get a new machine, and the more powerful have only the 38mm inlet instead of 50,   does it make a big difference to the performance of the machine using a narrower pipe ?

Any comments appreciated, thanks.  ;D

I use 38mm inside diameter the reason being my tubes aren't that much bigger (Superlight base sections) and the nozzle is even smaller. Most blockages seem to be either the nozzle or the inlet itself. Most vacs aren't designed particularly well at the inlet for our needs forcing the debris through ninety degrees. You can either remove the deflector plate which puts the filter in direct line of fire or redesign the inlet to follow the drum edge.

I find 38mm good enough although most 'proper' vacs fit 50mm.

Good Idea about altering the inlet to make it bigger, has anyone else done this ?
