I so respect this guy, Jeff. Sold his window cleaning business to start one up in Florida with the help of two childhood US friends. The visa process takes around 6 or so months and the file is inches thick. Min investment to get in is 50K. He has had his visa process accepted and is now doing a 5 month stint ahead of his family ( which I know is tuff for him )
In Panorama City ( his location in Florida) there is very few competitors for the high end residential properties he has targeted ( 3/4/5 mill dollars) the money he makes out strips what he made here in the UK. Big step for him, but what guts to move your family over and take the risk. And the weather aint bad too, if you exclude the odd twister.

[/quote could do with a fit female window cleaner to help me out, makes it more appealing to employ someone, also I think it would help to generate new work as women customers feel more comfortable talking to another female

Susan, we have an interesting story in the October issue about a lady that built up her window cleaning business after her and her husband split..... she had kids to bring up too!!! Story of lady determination - I love it!

I remember him, he was waiting for a visa. Thanks Lee, nice to know he made it :)
-
I sold his business for him, within about 5 minutes of advertising, and I didn't even get a kiss.
:'(
Very bold move, and one I'm envious of.
Good luck to the guy.

Wicked. Really? - yeah I think it was real bold. Hard thing is is spending the time apart from family to set it all up, get things in place... he gave me a n update
He told me on the first day in Florida ( this period) landed 11k contract and quoted another 15k of work and he is just waiting for an answer

Brilliant. I remember speaking to him, and he had done some research, was really motivated to get going, and sounds like he has.
I think it's great that he is looking for a better life for his family, and actually doing it.
