Hi All, as part of continuing to update my setup bought 100 metres of hose and fittings to convert backpack to van mount.
Wow how heavy is that, hose got tangled in the first attempt and overall I think its much easier to wheel my backpack around.
Will probably end up on the for sale board at around half the purchase price! unused.

With hindsight I shouldn't have got 100 metres. Heavy and unwieldy but I won't get rid of some just because of the odd job. At some point I will buy a lighter reel with 50m o microbore as opposed to 100m of minibore. Stick with it though as it is much better than trolley/backpack

Once you've done each house a couple of times you'll work out where to lay the house so it doesn't snag.
I've got 100m if microbore its fine I have very few issues.

Good hose, I actually thought I'd ordered the pole hose which is very light and flexible but I suppose that wouldn't work, too late now anyway.

When I went wfp I got a van mount and a freedom trolley. I had the trolley for the odd job where the hose wasn't possible to use.
After a couple of months i'd knocked over a garden statue (it broke) and flattened several flowers along the way.
I started working with the trolley to avoid this and stuck with it mostly for a couple of years.
Getting a raised hip from bad lifting technique made me swap back to van mount exclusively.
Anyway, with the background waffle over, I did the same work in 1 hour less time with van mount and reel.
It is well worth learning how to work with the hose. It's time consuming for a couple of times but you learn how to make it work. The benefits are great.
What do you mean 'how heavy is that'...? :o
100m on a reel can't be that much if any heavier than a trade ladder?? What's wrong with you man? ;D

i have that r x hose before, its the worst hose ever

still working out of the estate car! got 175 litre tank in there already backpack and trad gear, Haven't used a ladder for around 20 years, used trad pole. Just didn't realise how much extra weight the hose and reel added, bit pushed for room as well now.

Ionics hose is rubbish

i wouldnt say the ionics hose is rubbish but it is heavy .
i have an ionics hose reel and minibore 100m for big jobs (came with my system) and got the lightweight metal hosereel from gardiners(make is claver £50) with 60 metres if microbore from gardiners that i use for most houses.
it is much much lighter.

That's not really a 'Big mistake'. I once married an Oirish lass; now that was what you'd call a 'Big mistake'.
With a backpack, just keep it on the trolley; it's the simplest way.

yeah i agree with tosh here a backpack on a trolly, also a bilge pump to pump from a larger tank

you're right, backpack on trolley. I currently use a sub pump for caravans etc to pump the water from the tank to the backpack, slow slow! will have to look at a faster pump.
Went out with a bird once who stabbed me in the bed, that was quite a big mistake as well. !
