Title: What are vans worth?
Post by: formb on July 08, 2013, 02:28:49 pm
I have in my possession a 2001 Transit van. It has a brand new 500L tank professionally fitted in the back and is kitted out to run 2 poles on double DI.

The van is OK, nothing brilliant. It has an MOT till October and has just been resprayed in white.

I have no idea what it's worth, I haven't owned a van in over 10 years.

Here are some pics

If any of you could give me an idea of what you think it's worth that would be great. Ta.

eBay is not always the best option for me. 90% or more of the people to see it are 100s of miles away  ::)roll

Looks like a good van for someone starting out, especially with a new system fitted..

I would put it for sale on here but it won't let me post in the used equipment forum for some reason.

Soapy-how come you've got that if you haven't owned one in years.
If steer well clear of eBay bud.
Had nothing but poor chancers belling me up.
Try Autotrader it's the same price but a better class if person seems to get in contact.

With good sills you'll get around £1500 mate.
With a longer mot you'd get closer to 2k.
Is it a t280 or t260?

Its a 260. We made it for someone else who is now no longer trading.

Good van to be honest, fwd transit.
Will probably need a new selector box in the future, apart from that you should get a decent price.
Just check the sills before selling as it may need a bit doing (although if its been resprayed id guess its had some body work done already?)
1.5k for van, then whatever you value the system at, someone will get a good deal imo

No, a couple turned up looking to sell me their round. They were trad and had 900 customers all seriously under-priced. They wanted big bucks for it. In the end I persuaded them that rather then sell up; what they wanted to do was to go WFP, something I could help with.  Go for it they says, here is a van, fit the system.

Van done a week later and they stopped answering my calls. After much chasing etc it turns out they split up and he got a job off shore. Dunno what happened to their round.

I didn't offer anything. Their expectations were far too high. I would have offered money when they stopped trading but it became apparent that there were 'issues' that I was best to stay away from. More trouble than it was worth (plus the fact we are pretty flat out at the moment).

Hi Steve.

It's: Height 620mm Width 920mm Length 1000mm. Baffled. From the website I have not measured it but I will check it today when I'm at the workshop.

North east Scotland so miles from you  ::)roll

I sell lots of stuff on eBay so postage won't be an issue. Would you be interested in the frame also?

I don't need the frame, but a di vessel would be handy. Can you let me know a price including postage please?

did they want something like 50k ?    i personally would have offered 5k cash, if they were desperate chances are they might bite .   having said that you would then have had to quickly recruit more workers to cover the work
