Title: Sorting a few things out - post 2 - houses with connies - repricing
Post by: Ian101 on July 07, 2013, 09:05:15 am
When I first started I didnt charge properley for houses with conservatories .... prob not the only one  ::)roll

In fact its taken me until the last year to charge "correctly" for this kind of job so that leaves me with 2 years worth of early jobs that are in fairness either a little underpriced to way underpriced (confession is good for the soul) ... in total its 28 houses with connies that are between £4 and £8 ( :o ) under what I would charge now.

So this is the letter Im giving out to these jobs as from this week ........... normally wouldnt put the bit in about cancellation but taken decision if they dont want to pay the extra then not worried about loosing them (well I am but not prepared to clean them too cheaply any longer) ... also price change will take into account an 8 weekly price.

If they all cancelled would take a few weeks tops at most to replace.

Houses with Conservatories – Price Alteration

Dear ____________________

As from next month we are changing our pricing calculation to take into account the increasingly larger number of homes with conservatories.

This is because a conservatory contains a lot of windows - sometimes more than the actual house – and we need to allow sufficient time to ensure a quality clean.

For your property the new price calculation will be:

House £______      Conservatory £______      TOTAL £______

We hope you understand the need for us to cover our time however if you wish to cancel our service or alter your cleaning schedule from 4 weekly to 8 weekly please let us know via text, phone or email before your next scheduled clean.

Any suggestions / comments / alterations ??? :)

Ian you have used the words "if you wish to cancel".
I know you said you are probably not worried about losing them.
BUT in my opinion the use of those words has put you at a disadvantage.
Just as a good salesman will fire questions at a potential customer to condition them to reply "yes" to their questions, and avoid using questions that require a "no" reply.
Call it mental conditioning.
You have put the option to cancel at the forefront in the customers mind.
Personally I wouldn't of mentioned anything about cancelling, and just offered the option of moving from 4 to 8 weekly.
I tattoo all my customers with a barcode, so they can never leave, it's just not an option for them.  ;D

Hi Ian - yes I'm sure weve all got/had those underpriced customers that need bringing into line..

As said I wouldn't give the customer an advantage by throwing into the mix a cancelation - if they don't like it they will soon let you know!

If these customers have not had a price increase for a while maybe a better tack would be along these lines

Dear customer we at Ian 101 window cleaning have reviewing our pricing structure houses with conservatories will now be priced at £ xx.xx for the house and £ xx.xx for the conservatory this change in pricing will now bring you into line with our other customers in this area

Best regards
Ian ( I'm a greedy git ) 101
