Hi
At the moment I accept the following Cash, cheque, bacs, paypal and have just signed up to cardsave so i can take payments at the door or over the phone via ipad/laptop ect
I'm thinking about dumping paypal, some cash payments & all cheque payments what do you think.

Why dump cheque and some cash payments mate??.
I get 10-15 cheques in the post a day. If i stopped those debt list would burn hotter than hot with the amount owed.
-
Cheques cost a stamp plus 30p to pay in the bank plus looking to the future i don't really want staff walking around with cash on them.
Not not sure yet about cash and cheque but im geting shot of paypal though.

Absolutely anything.
I'd let customers pay me in belly button fluff if it was worth anything!
Make it easy for people to spend money with YOU and they will.

I accept cash and www.iconicwindowcleaning.co.uk/payments

CASH ONLY
-
Cash, cheque, online.

Why get rid of PayPal?

Why get rid of PayPal?
Paypal is going because i don't want two different card payment solutions.
Plus once i sort out the payment process and train the customers i'm sure my customers will find it a lot better than paypal

Goats, chickens, and turnips !

the more choice you give customers the better. cash, online payments via paypal, cheque, pingit, baks, nochex

Anyone use www.gocadless.com?
It allows you to pre-authorise your custies accounts for variable DD payments. No need to me on a specific schedule of for a fixed amount, so it can work much like paypal,.. only much less costly in fees. ;)
It is a PITA to setup on a website though!
-
gocardless is an option well worth considering as YOU debit the account when you are ready - so we debit 3 days after a clean for those on this scheme. PITA it maybe to set up - but Nate can do it no problems :)
-
hey smudger,
just been looking at Gocardless. It looks amazing. do you just need the customers email address to send them a link to authorise it, and then you can take payments as you go?
-
You can e-mail them a link or they can click the button on your website. Once they authorise it you can take payments as & when you clean.
Thats how I understand it anyway - its not launched in Ireland yet & I can't even sign up myself!
-
Cash, cheque, internet banking, telephone banking, paypal, card if not regiseterd with paypal.
So long as they pay thats all that counts. Id prefer someone paying paypal than having to collet any day of the week
-
richard - thats right, its really easy you can send them the form, it asks for their bank details, you are informed when they have replied, and then we debit account 3-5 days AFTER a clean, its great for late payers, and lots of others liek it, its a payment we will be pushing extensively over the coming months.

lmao

Dump paypal, use bank bill payments and cut out fees

Some people just like to pay with paypal, might cost a few pence, but it beats collecting :D

it looks perfect.
do you need a merchant account for it?
i guess even if you dont you get charged the 1% by them, and then another charge by you bank.
still great tho. once its set up you can charge people for extra jobs, pay rises are easy.... and its in your control.
-
no richard, works off ANY bank account. It does put you in control an its great for those good customers that do generally and honestly forget to make payment, this way they don't have to remember!

it looks like a solution we've been looking for.
thanks smudger! :)

How many have you got on gocardless so far? It looks good on your website. My worry is that I would just he adding another job to my list of things to do.
I've got: cash, cheques, bacs, standing orders, direct card payments, recurring card payments, pay via post, pay at the door, pay by link. If I could get EVERYONE onto the same method I'd be laughing.

Hi
I have just signed up for cardsave how do you do the recurring payments with out the 3 digit security code ?
Plus do you get them to sign some thing to say they are happy for you to take future payments ?
I have the virtual terminal, pay by link & paypage
Thanks Paul
-
I can log in to cardsave, it shows me the history of all payments processed. I click on the one I want to recur and bish bosh its done.
I ask them to send me a request for recurring card payments either by post or email.

i think you are making it difficult for yourself.
we only accept SOs and cheques at a push, and then cardsave payments for one off jobs or first cleans.
for me Go cardless will replace SOs as the preferred option.
you need to move your customers over to 2 methods i would say. you will loose a couple, but it will save you time and money in the future by simplifying your business, and free up your time to expand some more (or just finish work earlier!) ;-)

Yep i just logged in to my test system and i see it but it still asks for the CV2 is the 3 digit security code not needed for the transaction to be successful ??? ???
Thanks for answering my question about permission i just wasn't sure if they needed to sign a permission slip but is makes sense that a email or letter will be enough.
Thanks Paul

Do you have a bit that says 'transaction by cross reference'?

I see your point. I can't really cut ANY of those methods though. Just worried about adding another, although I think direct debits would probably be my preference really.
-

Yeah just done a cross ref test and it goes through as successful without the cv2 code but when ever i make a payment by phone i have to give them my cv2 code.
I think once it goes live i will ring them and see what the say i don't want to be getting done for doing the wrong thing.
Thanks Paul

It is not the best laid out website I've ever seen but once you start using it for proper it ain't so bad.
Transaction by cross reference and scheduled transactions is what you want.
