Title: Any Hayfever suffers on here?
Post by: Klean07 on June 30, 2013, 10:34:01 am
I've had very mild attacks in previous years but this year is the worst can't stop sneezing, nose is like a tap itchy eyes etc!
Because our work is outdoors which means we are prone to it so if anyone else suffers what do you take to relieve it?

Woke up at 5.00 am today (Shock :o don't usually surface till 8.30  or so these days ;D) Dreamed I was drowning - woke up and I nearly was!!  Worst year for hayfever for a long time.

Took a Boots own brand hay fever pill - an hour late still sneezing a bit but the nose has dried up.

If you get these buy the bulk packet, not the '7-day' one - much cheaper!!

I have suffered with it this year more than usual.
I take 180mg fexofenadine once a day. But it is not touching it this year!
I also use eye drops and an inhaler(when needed).

Marc The Acorn probably has a theory on the pollen thing.

Best remedy 1000 mg of vitamin C , i usually take the effervescent multi-vit from LIDL which has 1000 mg of vit C . I sometimes have 2 before work plus drink orange juice .

Vitamin C is a natural anti-histamine , It is the only thing that works for me and is way cheaper than Hay-Fever tablets . Mike

My uncle was told to sort taking locally sourced honey. He swears by it now says it has cleared up all of his symptoms

The honey works for some and not others. Friend of mine is a bee keeper and it didn't work for him even though the honey could not have been more local.
I get Hayfever really bad.
I find I get immune to the active ingredient after each year.
There are 3 main ones available over the counter and I cycle them all.
Will definitely give Trilidan a go. ThanksRP

I'm having trouble on high pollen count days but have asthma which I started last October at age 43 - ridiculous ! Apparently it's stress related but makes me cough for an hour or two most mornings and gets triggered by contact with perfume (don't wear any myself!) or particularly cut grass. Don't know where asthma symptoms stop and hay fever starts but seems fairly similar.

I suffer with hayfever you can't cure so its just trying to control it that's the key..

I usually start taking anti histamine in February before the season starts and keep taking it right through the summer, this helps to build up the resistance, I also use the Beconase spray this tends to do the trick..when pollen rate is high I take a tablet in morning along with the spray then another tab in the evening..

Grass pollen is particularly active early morning and early evening, so keeping windows closed also helps, this can be difficult in warm weather in bed so Use a fan when its hot..

Its extremly tiring isnt it! Sneezing takes a lot of effort im exhausted by end of day out in it  :'(

However my wife knows better and says im just being a wimp and my jobs easy  ::)roll lol i hate her so much
