Title: High speed rotary??
Post by: rich123 on June 29, 2013, 03:40:29 pm
Hi all

Was wondering can I use a Victor 450 high speed
for bonnet cleaning of carpet tiles etc, or should I
only use a standard speed machine?

Rich

Hi rich

High speed rotarys are not for bonnet buffing.

Rpm range should be 150-230 low to medium.

The high speeds are for hard floor polishing or stripping.

On low profile carpet you may get away with it, but high speed on domestic carpet could be risky.

Hope this helps bud

Mark

Think the speed is 300rpm should be ok, the 450 is the disk size unless marked with a H = 300rpm confusing or what ???

If stripping with a high speed I suggest you use a skirt  ;)

So you can use a high speed, but I'm better with a standard.
As I'm not overly experienced at using rotaries this is probably
my best bet.
Shame, eBay is flooded with high speed machines for sale,
but few standard?

I wouldn't use a high speed I just know the 450 I have I could use to clean carpets in fact i'm gonna do one now to see it is ok as I don't know the speed of mine as there is no stickers  :)

You'll burn the fibres at that speed even if you just dwell for a short time.

only if gets to dry and stay in place for too long that's were you need to know what your doing any rotary will burn fibres if used incorrectly

The higher the speed the greater the risk. Why risk it? It could cost you thousands to replace a commercial carpet.
