Title: Solvex fumes
Post by: Paul Simpson on June 29, 2013, 01:26:29 pm
Been using Solvex for a number of years in small doses without any problems, but yesterday i had to use a lot of it, with heat, on an end of tenancy (lots of paint).
I remember someone telling me a few years ago that it was banned in the USA because it was found to be too harmful  ???

Today I've developed a cough and of course immediately put 2+2 together.
I didn't drink it  ;D but think I may have inhaled some of the fumes.

Anyone else suffered problems with it?

All solvents will have an effect on the repiratory system, usually short lived. It is imperative when using solvents that the area is well ventilated or use a respirator.

Thanks John. After posting the question I got up off my a**e and checked the label and read about not inhaling the fumes. Thankfully like you say should only be short lived.
