Got to price a number of units spread across County Durham which would take me about 2hrs 30 mins drive from one to the next so would be looking to sub out work .
So do i let the company know in the quote or do i just sub it out as i see fit any good advice welcome . Mike

That was the idea the question is whether to inform the company in quotation provided that i will sub out some of contracted jobs . Mike

Don't mention it at the quotation stage, it will only complicate things. Secure the work first and then discuss it.

i didnt think co.durham was so big . i grew up there it was quite tuff

I've got similar work, spread over various site throughout the north west. I sub out a couple of the jobs because they are a nightmare for me to get to (and I know Colin will do a good job on them ;) ) and I cover the other 14 jobs myself, over 2 days.
My advice would be to secure the work (with no mention of subcontracting them) and do the first couple of cleans yourself. This will enable you to figure out the best way to complete the work. It may be that only the furthest 2 sites need to be subbed out for example.

Thanks again Deegee , the furthest distance is 24 miles but then another 22 miles to the next location the 15 miles to another one ,
Then moving closer to my usual work area within 6-8 miles which is much better .
So Deegee i was thinking to factor in a charge of £0.50 per mile for travel or do you just charge for time taken between locations . Any advice greatly appreciated you can email me if you prefer , that is if you dont mind . Mike

Mike-price day rate including travelling time and diesel cost.
A little drive between jobs is nice.
Even if you drive 100 miles for the day-look at it as you're getting paid for driving as its day rate.

The distances look quite small tbh. I wouldn't worry about price per mile or complicating it that way.
Just put your hourly rate (your top rate hourly to factor in for vehicle wear and tear etc) X however many hours then add fuel (add in an extra £10 or so to cover for fuel cost rises)
So for example:
The full day will take 6 hours (including travel and cleaning the 5 sites)
Hourly rate £30 x 6 hours = £180.00
Then add fuel of £30
£180 + £30 = £210 total
Then break it down as a price per job so £210 divide by 5 sites = £42 per site.
This way if 1 site drops off you can easily deduct it from the price. Also if the figure of £42 looks too low once you have broke it down add a few quid on for good luck!

Thanks again Deegee , They have asked for individual pricing for each unit and 1 may take 40 mins to clean and the largest I have viewed on google is 2-3 hrs work .
But I will factor in a rise in vehicle expenses etc as I intended on ficing the price for a good while . Mike

On the distances you mention and all for the same company I would say as a commercial "package" the work is fairly compact
Don't be phased by it ... It may look a daunting prospect at first but if priced right (and well) once you've done one run at the lot you'll realise and wonder what all the flap was about as you'll make it work for the price you've costed ...
Depending on your current work load the problem may be fitting in with existing work ... Then I understand the sub out thought ... Or just simply cut your poor work and replace with this .., don't let the travel put you off ... Make the job work for you ..

Cheers mate you always are the voice of clarity. It will be about 100 mile round trip so i will do it over 2 days plus their is other add on work involved , i have done plenty of pre planning so should be straight forward
Got some quality references done for the other job from high profile awarded companies just got to wait 2 weeks . I will give you call in the next week and keep you posted . Mike
