Hi all
Just done an office clean, we had some Prochem bonnet buff, but with all
the encap chat going around, bought some Procaps for the job.
Job done, no worries, but after using both, ermmm....whats the difference??
From what I can see, they do the same thing. ???
Cheers

They are similar in the way they are used but differ in how they go about the task.
Bonnet Buff is a bonnet cleaner. Designed to release soil from the fiber then be absorbed into the bonnet pad.
Procaps is an encapsulation cleaner. Designed to release soil from the fiber then hold it in suspension until it dries to a hard polymer residue encapsulating the soil.

The diff is 3 months down the road ;)
-
From the data sheet -
" Bonnet-Buff will effectively encapsulate and release soil,
leaving a clean, dry and residue free carpet.

So surely bonnet buff is better as you haven't got to vac it afterwards?
They both encap??
And the comment by Paul, about 3 months down the line, what do you
mean by that?

The Prochem technical help desk is quite good and will be able to tell you what the difference is, but my guess would be that procaps is a polymer encapsulator and bonnet buff is an older shampoo type.
-
Bonnet Buff can set cheapo DIY fire alarms off! Not sure about the other stuff, never tried it.
-
All bonnet products encapsulate the soil but its the way they do it which differs. The detergent based products attach themselves to the dirt molecules and then dry so the dirt is mixed in with the crystalised detergent. This detergent can be re-distributed within the fibres if it becomes moist ever due to spillage or even with just very high humidity.
With the new generation of Polymer based products the same thing happens but the dirt is surrounded by Polymer, a type of plastic and once this dries it can't then be re-constituted with moisture it is trapped there forever.
It is a myth that the carpets have to be vacuumed afterwards, anyone who has done it will tell you that very little is actually removed, you only have a little very fine dust in the bottom of the bag.
One very important part of either of these processes if thoroughly pre-vaccing.
-
So why doesn't it work in houses ? Or does it ?
-
Yep does.
-
So from what u guys are saying, and especially Johns post,
considering both products from Prochem cost about the same,
I'm better off using Procaps than bonnet buff for the way it
encapsulates?
Less chance of quick resoiling.
-
Yes.
-
Thanks, that cleared that up. :)
-
No problem.
-
Sorry to jump in but what does everyone use to encapsulate or just bonnet. I've run out of the product I use and need to buy something else, a cost effective product.
-
releasit DS2 or Hydrox fro Jamie at CSUK or probably my favorite because of the smell is Surround from John Kelly :)
-
I use environ
used to use fusion clean.
both very good and very economical ;D ;D
environ gets my vote at the moment though...
-
i have some environ, it is good stuff, but prefer the others
-
Billy what's the dilution rate of Surround, it isn't on the website.
-
found it
-
releasit ds2 and hydrox don't have dilution rates though, what are they?
-
You can use encap products on all carpets but domestic carpets differ as does the soil in them, rinse extraction is more of a requirement IMO on domestic (sorry hector)

there you go Neil, 1-32
-
HyDrOx is 1:16 for carpet use.
But can also be used as spotter, upholstery cleaner and extraction rinse at other dilutions.
-
Thanks...decisions decisions
-
If you want to go down the Releasit route there is a starter pack with the 3 main products and spotters.
Lets you try them out and see which works best for your system of working.
