Post by: Graeme Smith on June 26, 2013, 07:41:00 pm
For domestic use high traffic areas - which one would you use? Whats the price per m2 and the durability of both?? + which is the more glossy
Thanks :)

Assuming you are meaning the Dr.Schutz Medica and Secura products and not the 2 part polyurethane sealers.

Medica and Secura are about twice the price of Tight Shine.

Both are extremely durable with Tight Shine being the glossier of the 2.

The biggest advantage of Tight Shine is its rapid drying time
(unless you are on my course at Restormate when it usually takes about 2 hours while we all stare at it)

Medica and Secura will last about 2 years on a domestic as they are quite hard products.

Tight Shine will be the same but with need good maintenance and buffing.

What floor type is it, which room, any pets, is it well laid (can you see trowel marks, nail heads or floorboards undereath)

Its karndean - kitchen, hall, dining room and conservatory - customers having a new kitchen put in so the floor will be altered - so it will be strip the floor and apply new floor finish

Do they have pets? How is the subfloor? If either of them are a consideration I would go Matt rather than shiny as it will amplify undulations and show up scratches and scuffs more. Matt finish will give it a nice sheen.

Which Matt look finish would you go for?
