Title: FAO Poahgraive
Post by: Lee GLS on June 25, 2013, 09:21:34 pm
I see that you use the sealey metal hose reel, I've been looking to get one, but I wondered what they are like?

Also can the handle be removed? I use a cordless drill to wind my hose in so I would need to attach it where the handle is.

Cheers in advance.  :)

Lee, if you've got something decent like a Hannay or RedAshe now don't get a sealy.
It's just not as good.
I've got one in my garage gathering dust.
Went back to my 8 year old Hannay.
If anyone wants a Sealy reel-give me a shout.

What problems have you had with the sealey? Are they any better than the standards metal hose reel that most suppliers sell?

How much are you after for you old sealey one?

evening lee
had a quick closer look at it in the dark, the handle does look removable, its spring loaded so you can pull it up and fold it in , held in place with a screw, the spindle is also lockable with a thumb screw if you tighten it down, whether or not the collar that the handle screws onto is too big to go in a drill I would not know. I could take a pic for you tomorrow if you like ?
I have found it to be a very robust reel, its heavy and is only suitable to being bolted down as a van mount, but has a very smooth action.
The only niggle is that the screw heads that hold the sides on sometimes cause the hose to snag on them (microbore) when unreeling but I think this is more down to making sure when you reel it back in its tidy and even from side to side (if that makes sense)

Just didn't feel as robust.
Yeah, they are better than the standard ones but not as good as ones I mentioned.

What are you offering?

Sorry-not trying to play that game-just don't know what it's worth.
Was used for 3 months so in pretty good condition little paint chip from memory.
Not sure on the handle-ill have a butchers later.

If the handle can be removed, could you email me a picture with it removed?
