Do you look for a younger person or a older person?
I will be making sure they dont have a criminal record.
Qualifications isnt a problem.
Need to be approachable and friendly.good customer service etc.
What other skills do you look for?
-
I don't think a criminal record is relevant to whether they are a good worker or not.

Itis if you need workers to work on contracts requiring crb checks.

They could still be a good worker, though........but good point :).

Look for a happy person, sad people are not good workers ;D
-
Age does not matter , Personally i would look for someone who takes care of their appearance is polite friendly and conscientiousness . Mike
-
someone who stands straight up and does not lie
-
Turns up EVERY morning.
-
I don't think there is any way of knowing until you have employed
them for a time.
I know some real workhorses who don't sell themselves well at interviews
and other lazy sods who get the job every time.
-
Own transport so they dont take half a day to sign on. ;D

Someone confident who will canvass also.
-
Turns up EVERY morning, does not take days off, does not have regular bouts of mondayitis.

Sorry but I think your wrong here if someone is confident enough to canvass then why haven't they
started out on their own.
Answer they couldn't be bothered to get of their backside and do the manual work.
If your looking someone to do a hard days graft then hire someone to do this.
If you want a sales person then the same goes.
I know a lot of hard reliable workers who any company would be glad to employ but they
wouldn't door knock if their lives depended on it.
Also know guys who could sell snow to the Eskimos but manual work no way.

lack of ambition, happy with a simple life and consistent wage
someone with children and a steady partner

It's window cleaning, you can teach any one to do it, provided they come into work EVERY DAY.

Tuesdayitis does not exist. Now you are being silly.
