approx 4 years old .... tap tds in is 150 / 180 ish ... output used to be as low as 004 to 008 but now cant get it under 013 ... just change prefilters this evening but no difference to output. .... stopped getting 004 about 6 months ago.

I would keep using it, mine is new and I get 17ppm out

I would say the membrane is starting to fail but still plenty of life left in it yet regular flushing will help and you could flush with pure for the last few minutes of the days processing and let the membrane stand in pure - I've been told this prolongs the membranes life but having said that its 4 years old so I would say its earnt its corn and time to replace

Gardiners

mines shot up since replaying the pre filters to from gardiners

might be an obvious silly question but did you flush the filters through before attaching to your 4040 ? 4 years is good return , 13 ppm aint that bad , providing you have di also I'd keep an eye on the tds and run it to 30 before changing.

Run more water to waste say 60% waste 40% pure

wen u changed the pre filters did u run the water to the ground? not not left it flushing through the membrane?
i didint and apparently alex gardiner said its damaged the membrane the carbon fines going into the membrane.. however june at gaps water says this usually more times than not wont do anything to the membrane just flush over the top.
So god knows...
I did notice though even after flushing for ages taking the carbon block out there is still little loose fines of carbon on the inside.. have u checked yours? as my filters were from gardiners too.

Rinse the carbon block in a bucket of pure water before installing
that will get rid of any loose fines.
Then flush as usual.
