What do you charge to clean solar panels ?
do you charge for each panel, if so how much ?
-
Ooof how longs a piece of string.?
-
Pieces of string can vary in lengths, as an adult I would have thought you may have already known that.
As I have no idea what people charge for solar panels I thought I would get prices from different people and then work it out from there, getting a general idea
Do you clean solar panels ?
-
Only 6 houses all dif prices all dif accsess issues some easy some not.
-
How much do you charge per panel ?

Archer. What's the reason for all the aggression? You never seem to be able to take tongue in cheek replies as a bit of friendly banter. You do seem to come across extremely aggresive at times. Maybe its just how I see it but I just don't understand it
In reply to your questions. Its much the same as windows for me. I go off time an add a couple of quid due to the height. Also if its a regular custie then ill do them a bit less as part of the window clean as it keeps them sweet
Comercial side of things again I'd go with time. You need to think though people have them fitted to save money so if they're saving 300 quid a year an you charge 100 for cleaning them , yes I've seen these prices thrown around ie £5 or £10 a panel, then your not really offering a value for money service an they won't get it done

Ste M,
Thank you for your helpful advice, and its much appreciated.
As for the other part of your reply, i was looking to see what various prices are for cleaning the panels, not how longs a piece of string !
Pretty simple really
-
I agree a silly how longs a piece of string question. ::)roll
Some i do for free to keep customer happy and others with access problems i charge £40-50 on top of there house price every 4-6months. It varies to much to give an exact figure.
-
I would have thought the price to get is a percentage of the gain the customer gets in efficiency from having them cleaned ,otherwise there is no benefit to the customer and it would not become a repeat business model.
-
Archer,
I charge £1.50 a panel with a minimum £20 charge. Do loads of them most on a twice yearly rota.
-
i do a few as well.i have one to do next week when i clean her windows.12 panels and ill have to use my 40ft pole.easy access.£20 and itll take me about 20 mins including taking pole out of van and putting it back so i work on time as well.
i aim for £1 a minute.

Richard Shepherd & Dazmond,
Thank you very much for your normal replies, which are helpful , thanks.
As for the piece of string question, what is difficult in someone asking basically how much would do you charge, meaning per panel, just as a guide, I am not looking for your answer to be drafted up between solicitors, and then published in magazines or newspapers.
Quite simple question really, and obviously quite simple people give a stupid answer.
I suppose every question that everybody in the world asks you, your reply will be "How longs a piece of string"
Example:
Now this is a practice between a customer and some of you that bang on about a piece of string
Customer: Excuse me how much do you charge to clean windows ?
Answer: How longs a piece of string
Customer: I beg your pardon ?
Answer: oranges
Customer: Sorry you've lost me there !
Answer: Buy a A-Z if your lost then
Customer: (Scratches their head in confusion and replies) how much to clean my house please ?
Answer: Bread Roll
Customer: I want my windows cleaning and my solar panels how much ?
Answer: carrot cake
Can you see how helpful you are, obviously the answer I really want to put will get me banned, so I will now answer in the way you may understand .
Go and get your macks out of your cupboard, and take a running jump,
Oh and make sure next time you go to the toilet, YOU WIPE YOUR MOUTH.
As Jim Royle would say "Piece of String my Cornhole !!!!!
Thanks

That's the funniest post I have read on here for a while Chris :)

Thanks lads,
really are some thick people on this forum that think they are clever, glad you liked the conversation that they normally have with potential customers,
carrot cake, ha ha
-
Do you not have a tape measure? Why do you not have a tape measure? You should really have a tape measure. Think how much easier life would be if you carried a tape measure. You could always know how long pieces of string were if you had a tape measure. Handy.
Pffft, honestly, some people, walking about with no tape measure.
::)roll

That is exactly what i say when a customer asks me for a price over the phone,
Customer- how much to clean my windows/solar panels please.
Me- how longs a piece of string, ill have to come later and give you a quote or i could charge you too much or not enough.
Customer- ok that will be great, thank you see you soon.
Only a fool would quote work without viewing it unless you can guarantee what the job entails. Call that thick but i call it having my head screwed on!.
Some houses i do work out £1 per panel and some £5 all depending on access etc, if a custy rung me and i said £1 each panel but when i got there it should be more £5 a panel id feel a right old tit!.
Id have thought you would know how much to charge for solar panels with the amount of work you have anyway.
-
Do you take a tape measure. You should have a tape measure.
-
Customer- how much to clean my windows/solar panels please.
That is one of the most annoying parts of customer interaction for me. Had one two days ago, 'how much to clean my velux windows as we're moving'
This was my response, as you can tell I don't tolerate idiots ;D
Thankyou for your email enquiry. It is a little difficult to give a quote without first inspecting the property. However if you were able to give a few more details then hopefully I can give you a clearer idea of any charges; such as is the rooflight at thefront or rear of property, do you wish us to clean the inside and outsides or just the outsides; how long is it since it was cleaned and how heavily soiled is it, how many roof lights are there, is there anything hindering access (flat-roof extension, electrical cables, if access is required from the front how busy is the road?). If you could upload a picture or two of the property and the underlying situation I can give you a far more clearer idea.
I never heard anything. Perhaps they don't tolerate idiots either ;D ;D
-
I love the way you line your clamps up Dazmond!
-
Mick Kent,
I was originally looking for that kind of answer which you gave, some are £1, some are £5 and you gave the reasons why.
That was all I was asking.
As for the amount of work I have, I always like to ask questions when I am not 100% with something.

Charged £65 for this

It's not his fault, he was drug up in the gutter, an uncle of work out of him is better than nothing.
