Title: Things that have made the job more comfortable.
Post by: 8weekly on June 15, 2013, 09:06:08 pm
This year I have bought two items that have greatly improved my comfort at work.

1. Thermal socks. I was wearing two pairs of socks but my feet were like blocks of ice all day long in the cold weather, but therml socks from Go Outdoors totally fixed me! I am on beta blockers and on of the side effects is cold hands and feet so when it was really cold I really suffered.

2. Nitrile g loves. My hands were imposible o get clean, my fingers were cracking and painful and my hands were so rough that they caught on clothes. I have ben using nitrile gloves for 3 weeks now and my hands re now nealy healed and nice nd soft again.

Has anybody else got any recommendations?

Same here with the gloves. Always use gore tex shoes as getting wet feet can really make the day miserable

Gardiner poles instead of my old cold brodex alloy poles. It was like walking around with Calippos in your hands all day!

Hot water this year - god it was so much better in the cold having flexible hoses and getting new staff in should be fully trained by winter.  ;)

I have to say that hot water sounds appealing. But only because of the warmth of the pole. As I said earlier, my hands and feet get very cold.

8w-try it bud.
You definitely won't regret it.
Everything is so much nicer and easier to use.
And no days off because of frozen kit.

Once I followed the advice on here, I never lost any time last winter. I worked through -4. But the warm hands does appeal though.

Xtreme poles, Xtreme brushes, warm water, swivel, waterproof boots and an ipod. Could make do without any of them but I wouldn't want to.
