Title: Commercial Work
Post by: Leigh Taylor on June 13, 2013, 07:28:56 pm
Hey people, I've been in the game for five years and now have 600 residential customers and we're ticking along nicely with two vans.

In the next six months I'm going to start targeting commercial work as a separate business interest. Any medium sized commercial window cleaners that aren't in my area out there fancy chatting with me sometime? I'd like to pick your brains.

Cheers Leigh

Hi Leigh, passed two of your lads last week in Ketton.
Was gonna stop and say hi but they were cracking on!
Not a lot of difference between commercial/domestic.
It's who you know more than anything. Especially in Stamford/Oakham area.
Seems strange-it's not all about price here-contrary to popular belief.
And, as someone posted recently, commercial isn't the 'holy grail' of WC.
You'll perhaps make the most money by offering a higher service than competitors.
There are a fair few guys operating round here but from what I've seen most only go to 50odd feet. Think 'Kleena' goes higher but not sure.

Hey mate, anytime you see us stop for a chat. We can reach 60ft and have one commercial job that requires it, so want a bit more. Where are you from then?

Fair enough.
Live in Grantham but only do one day a month here.
Vast majority of my work is Rutland and Stamford.
I think I've seen you(r lads) a few times in Ketton-only there though.
Parked up on Tinwell Road last week, I was 3 doors down from another shiner-unwritten van. Was that you too? Thought yours were all liveried...

Yeah.
I'll clean anything though!
It's the MD of Lindum builders-don't know if you know of them?
I've cleaned for him for years, just moved onto the road.
Gaffs are tasty down that manor!

If you're ever a touch short give me a ding-happy to help out where I can.

It's neither of us.
It's a guy called Mike.
He sold up about 3 years ago to his brother.

As has been said commercial is not the holy grail of window cleaning.

I never said it was but I don't really need anymore residential and would like another van to just do commercial.

I have two vans flat out with residential and going to introduce another van to target commercial.....it's not do or die for me it's just a new chapter. I'm comfortable with what I have so I can afford to take my time building a commercial round.
