Morning folks,I have been asked to go and do a quote for a very prestigious hotel in Cambridge.
They require all carpets and upholstery cleaning,in 4 rooms per month,on a continual basis throughout the year.
Have not done a hotel before,so really not sure how to pitch it.
This could be a great help for me at the moment,as business is pretty slow.
Have got them booked in for Friday afternoon.
Rooms are £250 per night upwards.
From the pics I don't see anything by Crucial trading,phew..

Well they probably won't want to pay much. What price did you have in mind?

Going on the sizes of the rooms in those pics,I was thinking between £150 and £200 per room,as it's 4 per month and will help during the quiet times through winter and such like
-
I priced a 4 Star Hotel but was too much
They where paying £8 per room, carpet curtains and 2 chairs.
-
What !! That is crazy, well don't suppose I will get it,not lowering myself to those silly prices.
Will go in at £150 and see where it gets me,would cost me more in fuel to get there and back.
-
Can you get them to up the number of rooms per visit to make it more attractive to them.
I would also backwards price it to make sure they complete the whole hotel.
Looking at them I would say that once you are in and set up you could skip pre-vac, chuck chair and other items on bed, pre-spray 1 then its neighbour, back into first extract and be onto the next one in 20 mins.
Say you charge them £50 per room so £200 per visit based on 4.
If they had 16 rooms. Charge them £65.00 per room and tell them you will do the last block of 4 for free.
That way there is an incentive for them to get the whole hotel done.
We do this with a local hotel that has a whole floor every quarter done. If they complete all rooms in the year we do the ballroom, corridors, meeting rooms and other public areas prior to christmas party season for "free".
Hotels can be a pain in the ar$e as they book you, then sell the rooms and cancel at last minute and never get you back in.
This way there is an incentive to get them done.
Also we split it into monthly payments so its easier on their budget with the following rolled in.
Think about including stain treatment to other rooms outside the schedule on your visit, free protector on rooms after cleaning and (1,2 or 3) emergency call outs for body fluids bath overflows etc between visits FOC but hidden in the monthly service amount.
This way they have a monthly budget knowing that they can rely on you if incident.
We ALWAYS pick up additional stuff on every visit.

Thanks for that info, much appreciated ,like I say not really done anything like this before,so it's good to have some idea and also some info on how to pitch it,will know by Friday arvo, what they expect, they also wanted curtains doing, but never done curtains before,so not really sure which way to go with them..

Mark.
They will not pay 150-200 per room I can assure you!!
However much they charge per night, they wil want it done for peanuts. :-\
-
You can low moisture the curtains in situ with a hand mitt and extraction only if need be. They shouldn't be too bad looking at them. 15-20 mins per set of curtains. Check material first obviously.
Good luck, hope you get it. I'd take Jamie's advice as it's clear he is well experienced with commercial work.
-
Ok will bear that in mind with the curtains.
As for pricing I will have to see what their budget is and take it from there really,as it's all speculation until I see the place.
Appreciate all the info folks

George Clooney was staying there last week.
I know how much they've been paying, they'll probably tell you anyway.
Parking will be a nightmare.
-
Cant see you getting more than £50 a room. Might need to even go down to £40 ish a room. Watch out with the curtains, might be suede or silk. A vacuuming or light mist with a microsplitter and mit will probably be enough.
Shouldn't take long to complete those rooms though.
-
What about fogging? Is that an option?
-
Parking I would want to park on site,as Trumpington rd is a mare, especially if you stick a wheel in the open drain, seen plenty of people do that,Used to work at Loch fyne ,just down the road and Pembroke college prior to that, when I was a chef..
Won't be going that low with my prices.
Wonder what happened to the last company they used then ?
-
They walked.
-
Ah right one of those, well thanks for that info !! Best I set my cards on the table from the word go then.
-
Good luck, it's not a bad job but it hasn't been priced right in the past.
-
will just have to see how it goes, have converted plenty of other customers in the past that have had cheaper cleans done.
-
Pleased to say that I got the job, going to be a bit of a mare with all those stairs, she said I came across as very professional ;D
Just got to dot some i's and cross some it's then it's all go
-
How much then???
-
Not prepared to divulge that information, she did say the last guy was quite cheap though ;D
Not as much as I said I wanted in the first post, but enough to make it very worthwhile,4 rooms in 1 day once a month,41 rooms in total.some rooms bigger than others, but will balance out over the year.
Also going to quote them on all the other carpets in the corridors and stuff.
Gotta think of how much this will help me out in the quiet months over winter ;D
