Title: How long do u give your domestic to pay?

As the title says really? how long do you give them to pay if there out when you turn up?

I give them a week so it stats on our slips then we add a charge of £2.50 because it becomes a late payment.. this basically just to hurry them up.

What ive started to do after around 4-5 days anyone who hasn't paid sent them a quick text message reminding them that they still owe us money.. seems to be working very well apart from the odd one or two.. which are going to be dropped because of this. Its just no good to have huge amounts of debt in this business cash flow is soooooo inportant

I used to allow that when i first started but not anymore, basically its like loaning them money for the month once you let it happen i found it got more and more.

much easier these days for customers to pay to be honest there inst any excuse with internet banking they don't have to move from there seat  ;D

One of my customers have me clean insides every time and pays in front of me by going on his bank on his mobile phone!! its great.

Extended credit is a problem, people will abuse it don`t even allow it from day one. If you are asertive you keep the custy be lax and you will loose money and the customer.

most of mine are really good and pay within a week or so however just had 4 or 5 go over a month and not the first time for some of them so just printed a statement of account off george and posted it with  slip saying were all busy etc  etc  but pay up please also mentioned if theyre really busy people then a standing order may be more suitable for them.

You can pay by bank transfer, cheque in post or we even accept PayPal to billgates@msn.com

If you prefer for total “do it once and forget about it” you can set up a standing order – our bank details are on the bottom of attached reminder. If you decide this is the most hassle free method then remember to use the 1st line of your address as the reference so we know it’s from you; we would prefer a payment date of the 15th for all standing orders if that’s ok with you.

on each invoice it says  payment in 14 days otherwise late payment is added.

but some people that let me know and i let them have it till next time.
