Title: Best genral chemicals
Post by: colin lightfoot on June 02, 2013, 07:15:54 pm
I know there are loads of opinons on this but as a genral thought whats the best genral presprays people use. I use extract from evans valodine along with there oxy powder and spot stain chemicals. I also use a pre spray from them when working in a nursing home that kills mrsa hep b etc before i even touch a carpet. Had really good results with them and customers are really pleased with my work. Been looking at the solutions range as well as prochem but there are so many out there it gets confusing.
Any advice would be great
Cheers colin

Hi Colin, no one else has replied so I thought I would help you out a bit.
As you say there is a wide range of products out there.
Most janitorial suppliers do a range of basic products, usually generic products.
There are however companies which specialise in the carpet cleaning industry. These tend to have specific products for different scenarios. The main 2 are Prochem and Chemspec. Both these are large outfits and spend substantial sums on product development and research. Prochem spent $10m developing Microsan alone. Craftex are also another company with some really effective products.
You'll find that most cleaners pick and choose products from a range of companies rather than just sticking with one brand.

Thanks john for the reply.
I will look into the prochem range again but theres so many. Are there any you would reccomend or always carry. I know the valodine range is perhaps janatorial as you say but why is it seen as no good or basic in the eyes of carpet cleaners. People say how excellent the woodcare range and other chemicals are but they wouldnt try the extract or carpet range. Surly if other chemicals are good why not try the carpet stuff as well
Just a little confused

Cheers colin

Porsche make great sports cars. They also make the Cayenne 4x4 as they feel they need to have one in their range. That doesn't make it as good as a Land Rover Defender or a Toyota Land Cruiser.

Hi Colin,

I use a range of chemicals for per sprays.

Firstly you will find the powders better value for money.

Ones I like. Prochem power burst, good for bar, restaurant and polypropylene in rentals. Mix 7 scoops to 5 litres for heavy soiling. Pre spray gold is overpriced and not strong enough.

Solution have spm. Which is very good. And self neutralising.  Medium soiling and good on wools.although use acid rinse on wool. Also you can bonnet buff with this, plus use on fabrics too!!!

They also do shock wave for heavy duty stuff.

And m-power is good to.

Chemspec make good products but are slightly on expensive side, and quite a few liquids.

Best to try a few, none of them will let you down, and you will find what you like.  Also depends what sort of work your doing. Domestic high end, eot cleans or commercial, as its horses for courses.

Chemspec are probably the best value products on the market due to their effectiveness. SPM can't be self neutralising. It has no components to make that possible.

Most pre sprays aren't ph neutral to begin with its how you and what you flush with that makes the difference..

Could be worth trying dfc hd I'm really pleased with it.

I am trying to give both a decent trial I haven't really compare ATM, the dfc range are completely Eco friendly with certification I'm not sure about spm but for cleaning efficiency I can't fault either, shock wave is very good, I got the sample pack it's good value.

Shockwave is an enzyme product. Powerburst is enzyme free.
