Title: Would like to hear your advice
Post by: AJCleaningServices on February 25, 2006, 02:09:54 pm
Hello to carpet cleaners,

I run a small cleaning company (http://cleaningforyou.co.uk) in Newcastle upon Tyne.  My customers are mainly private home owners.  I am thinking of buying a carpet cleaning machine to expand my business into carpet cleaning sector.  I would not afford to invest a lot of money just wanted to spend two-three thousands pounds.  I would probably go for a second hand HWE machine, may be buy a second hand rotovac.

Looking at the picture on the bottom of the page (http://www.amtechuk.biz/perfect_heat_spec.php) I wonder whether I would be able to transport carpet cleaning machine (kind of CFR Pro Station 400 (http://www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_copy_of_CFR_Pro_Station_400_Carpet_Cleaning_Machine.html)) and all the necessary accessories on the back of Citroen Berlingo Multispace (http://muhlke.gazdefrance.de/erdgasautosbilder/car_citroen_berlingo_multispace_kofferraum.jpg)?

Any thoughts, advice?

Thank you,
Kind regards,
Arthur

Hi
I also do a lot of carpet cleaning as an ad on to cleaning. having tried 4 machines I now run a Extraca Excell which the company are in team valley I think. not far from you. I bought it nearly new from EBAY for £1500 worth £2500. I coudn be more pleased does a fantastic job and very versetile, have an extension hose and with the doubl vac can clean the hole house with the machine on the drive. don't make the same mistake as I did, buy machines there are not up to the task.
hope this helps.
kind regards Phil

You can sling almost anything in the back of a Berlingo! It's a wonderful little van.

I run 2 Kangoos, 1 Inca, 1 Escort, 1 Astra and 2 Berlingos. Now while the Astra is my favourite (drives like a sports car!) the Berlingo's take the most load.... and their bodywork lasts much better than the Kangoo's.... and the Kangoo clutch is heavy, too.

Best value van.... certainly the Berlingo, and the staff like it too, for its comfortable seat and relaxed driving position.

Just don't buy a Kangoo!

Thank you for your offer,
I would have to go to Carpex.co.uk , before making any decision what machine to buy.
Kind regards,

Extracta Excel is an excellent machine. I bought mine new in 2002 and it now is not used much, and has 1500 hours on the clock. It is easy to service, and the only time has let me down is when i was filling it and must of got water in the electrics which blew the vac motor. This cost me £175.

The only criticism is when you take machine apart, the labels on the vacs and water pump are conveniently removed to stop you identifying the model so you can't source a cheaper local one and buy from them instead.

I did actually phone up a pump supplier, who was reluctant to tell me as they supplied Extracta directly. They did in the end.

I thought you could get parts for most machines from Woodbridge.

Arthur that Ninja with all the bits and bobs iswoth investigating.

As Extracta are near to you I woud pay them a visit they are not at Carpex for some reason

I think you would eventually need a larger van, but then your running costs increase.

I don't think Extracta ever appear at any shows, which is a shame as their machines are excellent.
