I'm trialing George at present, seeing how and if it's going to be convenient and worthwhile enough to use. I want to have it on my home pc but also take a small note book/ tab out on the road to update info through the day. Then reload the updates back onto main pc as soon as I get home.
I've got it on trial for a while yet but can't transfer data to another laptop or usb device to take to work, is that because I've not subscribed and need copies of George on both computers and if so will I need to buy further additional copies of the software if I was to put another vehicle on the road in the future.
Ps. I presently use an excel spread sheet printed off and simply used like a round book. It's quick and easy but time consuming when it comes to totaling amounts outstanding etc. Is George worth it???? as the initial inputting of data will obviously take some time.
Thanks Craig

you need to, pay for it its well worth it dont get a palm or any other tablet just print off your work list on sunday for the weeks work well worth the money makes life so easy it will print or your invoices as well get it it will save you time
-
i think you would be better with AWORKA,you can have it on trial for 6 weeks,i personally find george better and use it on a PDA device

i use george as well and think its fantastic for a sole trader.i also print worksheets for the week ahead, invoices the night before clean, statement of accounts for late payers, debt lists, records for end of year accounts etc, etc.it really is that good! :) :)
it was a pain inputting all my customers and took me a good day to get everything sorted but after that its really simple to use and nice and tidy and professional.
internet back up is only £12 a year as well so if your computer crashes its only a simple email to paul with your serial code you get when you register to get you up and running again on another computer.
best £50 ive ever spent.

I couldn't run my business with out George, I would of packed it all in if i had to sit more then 30 mins a day doing paperwork. Best £50.00 ive ever spent.

I want to update payments on the go so all admin other than reports are done by the time i've finished the days work. Is this practical ?
-
Get a Palm PDA off eBay - they're cheap as chips.
Download pocket George, then you can update as you go.
When you get home sync the pda with your pc - job done.
-
That's what I want to do. will a notebook do instead of a p.d.a or not? and what happens if I get more staff is George workable with multiple operators.
-
Print the worksheets out on paper through George. Easy
-
Yes but that means I have to update everything back onto computer every night. I need to know f it's easy enough to do it all straight onto a second notebook/ laptop or pda as I'm doing the work then just transfer the data once I've finished. I have a small notebook already if that ill surfice.

i think it will only work on a PDA which is why i trialled AWORKA,as it can be used on the iphone but i just couldn't get on with it

It takes me around 10 mins a day (sometimes less) to update George when i get home.
If that's too long for you, I would get a palm.
-
I run 2 palms, we sync both when we finish, job done..

Thanks 4 that everyone. I've now committed and bought George I'm sure it will do the job. I've just got to down load pocket george onto notebook/palm or whatever and get useing it. (God alone knows how to do that) apparently I get it free but can't see it anywhere, but that's another post.
Thanks again for advice and if there's anything else I need to Know I'd be grateful for the tips.
Regards. Craig.

Paul Sanders who created George is so helpful - just contact him direct with any questions via the support email on the website - there's also a support board you can join too.
I've been using George for nearly 10 years now and it's brilliant - you won't regret taking the plunge. I've tried other solutions and its still the one that works best for me and my business.
All the best with it 8)
