Title: Trafic v Transit v ??
Post by: Klean07 on May 25, 2013, 02:46:07 pm
I'm looking to buy a bigger van I've had my connect 6 years now but want something bigger. I like the Trafic and the Transit but can't decide which ones for me yet as I've read there are certain issues with both vans! I know most on here have Trafics.
Opinions please?

I've been looking at both vans, I like the look of the vivaro the most, but after lots of research on forums, the transit seems the lesser of the 2 evils. There are horror stories for both, but it seems the vivaro engine is less realiable, injectors seizing in head and needing a 10 ton press to pull them out. A friend of mine had an 09 vivaro with engine problems, £1500 later it still didn't run right, vauxhall couldn't diagnose it. He's got an expert now, they actually seem like good vans.

We have a three year old trafic, and even with a full 650 it drives spot on, spoke to mechanic about getting an extended warranty, and he said not to bother as they are good engines.

I think whatever you buy it needs to have low miles, and good service history, I get the oil changed every six months,
hopefully will last a while.

I had a T280 transit and was a good van but rust became  a major problem after a few years , I now have a Vivaro and am really happy with it and they look very classy ;)

Experts are great vans. I ran one for 18 months.
Trafics are great vans. I'm on my 2nd.
Search past threads for issues though. I think after 2007 a lot of issues got sorted.
I'm not a Ford fan but the last shape is a good looking, practical van.
Not too sure on the brand new shape but all down to personal taste.

this is where I am at the minute just looked in to down sizeing to some thing smaller but want to carry a 1000 tank , so its a traffic or a transit ,

not sure what to get but transits are cheaper then traffics ?? don't know why just seems so is this right

Transit running gear bullet proof, not as refined ride, noisier engine but built for the task.. Will rust though..

Or Trafic the exact opposite..!

This is from experience, had a Trafic engine blow, and a Renault Master blow an engine and gearbox.. And no I don't have lead boots, and have them serviced every 10k and not the silly 18k or so as directed by the dealer..

Workhorse that you can rely on, go for the Transit..

Had  my Primastar for nearly 7 years all in its been a great van apart from the clutch going at 18,000 miles not a spot of rust on it my next van will be the same exept a LWB.
