Post by: gavinb on May 23, 2013, 09:51:26 pm
Anyone who has a gardiners backpack have you had the pleasure of water peeing out the bottom when you lift it up by the handle ?

If so what is the fix for this ?

Other than chucking it in the skip ?

Where is water coming from and how old is the backpack?

Wow !!!

Hi Alex when i fill it up and lift it it seems to be seeping out from the bottom where the
Tank is screwed onto the bottom .
I took the bottom off and tried tightening the connections but it still does it ?

I think i have had it just a year now .

There are two connections that could be the source of the issue - one is the orange nut that screws on to the brass outlet - have a close look and see if this is weeping. If it is then first trying tightening it up a bit. If this doesn't cure it then undo it and wrap the thread with a little PTFE tape. This should sort it out quickly for you.

If it is not weeping from this orange nut then it could be the connection where the black hose from the pump attaches to the barb from the orange nut. This is held on with a jubilee clip. Check to see if it is leaking from this connection. If it is then check the black hose to see if it is damaged at all - if it is then you would need to call our office and arrange a replacement hose part. If not then simply tightening the jubilee clip may suffice.

The first thing to find out is exactly which part the water is coming from. Perhaps a photo would help - feel free to email it to myself or the office on sales@gardinerpolesystems.co.uk

I had similar problem, bit of water running out of hole in the bottom under pump. Couldn't find a leak till I last of all checked the screw fitting on the front that attaches the hose to the backpack, had come a bit loose, a quick tighten and problem was solved!  ::)roll top backpack btw.

Is there or should there be a washer in the drain off nut as mine leaks from there. It could be that its been lost when it was emptied assuming that there is one.
