I am going to bite the bullet on this one and with the small amount of experience gained i will be offering training in pressure washing.
Not formalised to date but i will be putting something together in the next couple of weeks and once done I will post an update.
The dates will be at our trading address, which is not pretty - it is only a service unit, on a working farm. There is plenty of opportunity to get stuck in and get dirty and will be mostly hands on, with some paperwork and I will put a certificate of training on the end of it.
If there is interest I will keep all updated
Rob ;D
-
Is this going to be a recognised certificate? Help with insurance? Count towards H&S?
-
Matt
From the window cleaning section -
I will say from the start - if people are expecting fancy this might not be for them. I am not a teacher, I will give you advice from experience and suggestion.
We may all gain from it, me included and will be more informal - don't come suited and booted
What you do with the info given will be up to you.
The certificate will only count for something if it is used properly and holds no actual value, what you can say with it is that you have been certificated by a company that works with Tesco & Sainsbury's and has worked on the Olympic Park - that has to have some credence and i believe could be used effectively in marketing.
I would have to look into how it could have more credibility than the above
Rob ;D
-
I'm surprised you have managed to persuade Roger to interupt his schedule to train your blokes ;D Will the certificate be from obscure organisation written in Welsh like my trauma and bio hazard remediation qualification ;D
-
I can write the certificates in Scottish if you want. Noone will be able to read them. ;D
-
Oche aye ;)
Rob ;D
-
Matt can I be cheeky, and ask how you got your customers to post the positive feedback on Freeindex ?
-
They'll all be fellow lodge members ;D
-
I'd be interested - started to zero in on stone/tile cleaning for inside the house but no nothing about external cleaning particularly regarding the set up needed - just gleaned that second hand equipment was a good way to go if you know what you're looking for.
-
Matt can I be cheeky, and ask how you got your customers to post the positive feedback on Freeindex ?
That depends mate. Where are you based? ;D
-
I'd be really interested, always up for learning more.
-
Rob, it's got potential. I knew someone would give it a crack sooner than later.
Maybe you could get some pointers from Ron Musgraves in the meantime.
-
Will there be refreshments?
-
Hello Tim
I am looking into hire fees for two local halls for the mornings and we will then go up to the unit for some hands on. Refreshments will be included - not alcohol though ;D
Rob ;D
-
I too am interested in attending.
A friend of mine applied for transport manager at Eddie Stobarts they rejected his claim of well qualified for the job because he had parked run away trolleys at Tescos for five years.
A qualification offered by the car park cleaner?
-
I never go up north
Too far and too cold
Can you come to the south 8)
-
Lee (Blastaway)
I wanted to talk to you about it, see whether you wanted a guest speaker slot??
Lee - we are often down south!!
Rob ;D
-
that's one way to saturate the market i suppose. i would have thought a failing pressure washing company would set this up not a succesful one. those that can do, and those that can't teach as they say.
-
Hi Rob
I would be interested in your training day. I'm moving to Spain in the next year or so and I'm looking to add services that will be transferable, as there aren't many carpets to clean over there ;D
-
Don't go - he's got a phobia about add on merchants and its just a ploy to get them all in a hall and axe murder them in a blue thong, he's been talking to shris chott too much ;D
-
;D ;D ;D
Don't listen to him - he's more french than English ;D
Rob ;D
-
What format will the courses take ? How will you structure our day?
-
Rob i'd be interested, obviously for the things I could learn but also to put a face to a name for many people on this forum. I would be very interested in learning a it more about decking.
-
Neil
As I said to Ian and I wished I had approached him at the time, Derek did a great job of the TACCA day and I wanted to come up and meet a few of the guys from the carpet cleaning side. There is a definite shout to have a day across the services, lot of knowledge on here.
Decking & wood wont be covered mate - that is Rogers forte and I don't know enough about it. There seems to be real interest in a training day for PWing and I will be working on it.
Grateful for all the interest.
Rob ;D
-
Neil
Grateful for all the interest.
Rob ;D
No problem ...i cant wait. Is there anything i could do to help out....maybe for a free place?
How much will it cost for the day?
-
You wont turn up.
The truth is you don't actually exist, there is only you that doesn't realise that ;D
Rob ;D
-
No i am serious. I have been to P/W training courses by Adseal ,Smartseal, Jetstream, Restorative techniques, Stonhealth .
-
Did you not retain the given advice then??
Rob ;D
-
I know about marketing for the domestic market , different types of weedkillers, mechanical ( Pumps ,gearboxes, unloaders, engines petrol and diesel) repairs , seals, impregnators and there applications (including limitations of use ,application time frames, life expectancy ) , Various cleaning chemicals and there application and mix ratio's, affects of water on substrates in extreme conditions, absorption rates of different substrates, customers and difficult neighbours, stone repair, acid rain, symbiotic relationships between algaes and lichens, Pointing (synthetic and otherwise) Paint stripping, paint strippers ,Removal of sealers that have gone wrong /being wrongly applied. ...etc
So to ,answer you question .Yes... i have retained most of what i didn't fall asleep through. ;D
-
You believe it - not managed to turn it into success though have you.
That is definitely one thing I can pass on.
Did you learn how to use wallpaper poultices on one such course?
Rob ;D
-
Forgot poultices...i know about them too.
-

You never retained what the english teacher told you about "their and there" though
-
I'm going to ignore you for a while - that seems to calm you down a little.
I can't be bothered with it at the moment as I have quite a lot on. I don't know what you will do if I don't reply, maybe sulk, keep posting things to try and goad me - it wont work.
You have seen the response - there is a lot of interest, it does look like jealousy. I understand.
Maybe at some point in your formative and or teenage years someone belittled your manhood and it has given you inferiorities that you want to find an outlet for. I'm ok with you trying to put that angst on me.
Why don't you do something constructive with what has been gained knowledge wise rather than trying to get one over on me.
I enjoy the banter - you aren't really a challenge. I know I needle the hell out of you, even when I am being serious.
Put some of your energy into development of the not very good business window and that may give you enough work in the day to be too tired to want to be a smart arse on here.
Good luck
Rob ;D
-
Thats fine - I'm away for the next 10 days so you won't have to put up with me but I'm not jelous and you don't needle me. I used to shower with hundreds of men and nobody belittled my manhood but the torys shut the pits
-
Not you mate
The other one ;D
Rob ;D
-
Rob
Defo interested mate
-
It would be useful to know what exactly the course would cover, for example the surfaces, equipment, etc, and to break it down into courses ( like the health and safety people who ran the window cleaning courses ) .
Would be good to have a complete beginners course, and several others to cover different surfaces/problem cases.
Please don't offer a day course in pressure washing as most right thinking people would believe this is not possible, and you are just trying to earn a quick buck ;D
-
Do we have an insight into course content yet?
-
Do we have an insight into coarse content yet?
Thats a bit rouhg mate..
-
i did a two part course with "the water jetting association" some years ago

regards john
-
Has there been any more thought about this happening yet?
Tim.
-
I was thinking about doing a window cleaning course and realised the course would need to last months
Mainly due to many different types of windows, glass, heights - inside/outside etc
I would say on average a good window cleaner takes between six month's and two years to become good enough to clean ANY window on ANY building
How much would that course cost?
And my staff get this training for FREE and I even pay the buggers a monthly wage - they don't realise how lucky they are.
-
Did this course ever happen? If so how did it go? Are there similar courses/training days which may happen in the future? Would be very interested if there was.
-
Come out with us for a day you will learn more. Not to far away is it?
-
I would come 100%. Let me know when it is please :)
