Title: creasote
Post by: clive ware on May 19, 2013, 08:25:49 pm
My brother in law has spilt creasote over the back seat of his year old honda civic.
Ive been there all afternoon trying to get what I could out but its everywhere inside the foam under the seat covers. It absolutely stinks. Does anyone know if the smell will diminish once its dry?
I,ve stuck a turbo dryer on the worst area but dont hold out much hope.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Eucalyptus oil breaks down the chemicals in creosote - allow to dwell for at least 30 mins with some agitation - then plenty of rinsing.  Repeat if necessary ???

That's a great tip, wonder if the flushing effect would help if wet solvent was applied before rinsing?

Cheers for that. I got loads of it out with prochem fabric restorer but there is just so much of it inside the foam in the seat that I`m fighting a losing battle.

The foam inside the seat will need replacing as it will soak the creasote up and swell up plus the smell may never go
