Title: Airflex storm/flyer design
Post by: Mark Blazey on May 16, 2013, 04:30:24 pm
Good afternoon all,  the lovely Vicki from TopMark posting :)

I'm getting a flyer designed to promote our new machine, anyone willing to give me some ideas of wording to use that the general public will understand?

Also done a letter similar to neighbour nudger but need to think of an offer and time scale to claim.

My youngest is teething and my brain isn't in 6th gear more like reverse today!!!!

Many thanks Vicki Jordison

Maybe I worded that wrong.

Wording to promote benefits to the customer with using latest carpet cleaning methods.

Is the flyer going to be a general flyer or one which you will be giving to existing customers?

If you want to extol the machines benefits list the benefits it has over other machines, focusing on what the customer wants to hear ie: superior results, low drying times etc

However with having the customer in mind do they really want to know about your machine? Is that the thing that gets you work? Is that the reason they chose you over other services or is that just the tool which does the work?

Focus on your unique selling point. Whatever that might be. It might be money better spent. Possibly

Unique selling point

Yes i see :-[

My unique selling point is Trust, I operate very locally usually no further than about 7 miles from my home and I offer a wide variety of services. The same customers use me for multiple services at different times of the year and 90% of my work comes from referrals.

Whats your USP Mark?

I only asked about wording. Go somewhere else with your testosterone.

Often people are very helpful on here, but jeez why does there have to be so much competition.

It's a forum to support each other and chat to like minded people with similar businesses.

Yes i see :-[

My unique selling point is Trust,

Errr... Isn't trust some thing most carpet cleaners offer? Not very unique :D

I don"t think Usp are that important with a flyer, just show them you are local and don't look like a serial killer. Then Tell them the things they want to know

One of the things I try to put on everything
marketing wise in bold letters is:

"Fast drying times"

Think it's the one thing that just about everybody
asks.

I think you may have misunderstood my intentions people ask questions then I answered them I don't see what was wrong with the answer I was only trying to help. If you don't want testosterone infused answers try mumsnet next time.

Mike trust is something I have worked hard on over the years and the reports of other tradesmen I get from my customers suggest it is not something most gain. It is something I try to work on and it seems to work well for me. If its not unique then fine but it works. I find working on trust means you don't  have to spend thousands of pounds putting out thousands of leaflets or spend more thousands on other forms of advertising, something which many other cleaners do every year.

Why does everything have to be so controversial anyway. Make the leaflet like you want. Everyone can do and think what they want because at the end of the day when the computers off what does it really matter in the real world nothing to me.

Vicky, following on from what has been said, when I did my copywriting training there was a quote by an American marketer that was really useful...

"They don't care what's in it until they know what's in it for them".

In other words, they don't give a toss about something - only how they will benefit from it.

For instance, say a dentist had some new laser powered drill (I made that up). Their client's could not care less.

If however, he said "we have a new laser drill that means we can drill out a filling void without causing any pain or having to put a drill in your mouth. You won't feel any vibrations or hear that horrible whizzing noise" You would take a lot more notice.

Can you see the difference?

I've posted my wording on fb and the lovely Paul Pearce has advised me of a few words to amend.  8)

Why are we different?

We have invested in the Airflex Storm - one of the top Hot Water Extraction Machines  - which means your carpets will be DRY in half the time - compared to other carpet cleaning companies.

Unless you are a rag twirler like Hector ;D
