Not that I wanted £1.30, but when the very old man, who I have worked for on many occasions, came to give me the £130-00, he fiddles in his money pouch and gave me £1.30 :-\
I said it was £130-00, and so he ended up giving me £100-00, as that was all he had. I said I will pop round next week for the £ 30-00 but I will have to see if he even remembers me!
It's the first time it has happened to me, and was almost funny.
If he forgets next week, I will pop over to Travis Perkins for some tar and feathers. Paul Pearce said that usually works a treat ;D

I cleaned a customers staircase about 6 years ago, my then partner answered the phone, said we charge £60 after i had been and completed the job, the woman gave me £16.00 I said it was sixty not sixteen! and told her to have a look in my diary! if she could find any job lower than sixty she could have it for nothing ! Anyway she paid me, then contacted the NCCA to complain that i had over charged her

I think old people are pretty crafty - he was probably having you on.

You will probably find someone who would have done it for £1.20.

Did a 2 seater sofa a couple of years ago. I charged him £45, as it was a tiny sofa and clean all round. When finished I gave him the receipt, he shoved it into his pocket without looking at it and gave me a handful of notes, and said "It was ninety five, wasn`t it? Thats a hundred quid you`ve done a great job thanks very much." then shut the door in front of me. ::)roll

A lot of these old dears are a bit deaf , and don't always wear their aids around the house , I know what its like myself as I wear hearing aids, so its easy for them to miss hear the price.
I always write the price down on my survey sheet in large numbers ( no excuses re reading glasses ) and show them as well as TELLING THEM THE PRICE IN A SLOW AND LOUD VOICE , but not in a condescending way, and make sure they fully understand the cost, I also show them the survey sheet before I start the job and say something along the lines of "........ so if you remember Mrs Smith the price for this job is £xxx" saves any misunderstanding all round.

I did a job for a family of scrappies ( high class,) it came to £100 but she gave me 6 £50s. No a hundred... Oh she says and opened her wallet with a wedge of 50 s half an inch thick.
Should have kept quiet.
