If it's classic you can negotiate a type of ' lay up ' insurance with some of the specialists but it's usually just down to the situation.

sorry not very clear im in a multiple vehicle policy wasnt sure what the insurers views on this were before i asked question
im just on the phone to them to have it removed
as its a fleet policy i was just wondering if they give a reduced rate or if they cancel it off no fuss

Local guy has 3 cars all sorned but fell foul of the law because if a member of the public can get access to the car you must have it insured. Even if on private land

I have 5 vehicles all on sorn in my field and all currently not insured. DVLA know this and have done for the last 18 months. There is no requirement to have any car insured unless it's either parked / used on the road or currently taxed.
Once you've completed the SORN declaration form you'll receive confirmation that your vehicle is officially classed as unused (and therefore exempt from the insurance requirement) within 4 weeks. This declaration will last for 12 months after which you'll be asked to renew the SORN.
