Just want to find out what time-frame you folks give your commercial customers to pay up and if not paid within your said days do you charge more on top?
Going to concentrate on getting some good paying commercial work shortly and want to put terms on new invoice book
cheers

30 days from date of invoice I put on all invoices.
All but a few pay within these terms. I do have a good chunk of work that pays the following Thursday from receipt of invoice and I also have some that pays on 10th of the month 2 months after invoice date. This means for work done on 1st March I don't get paid until 10th May which is a nuisance at first but we do atleast 6 days each month for them so get a good chunk every single month.
Basically set out your own terms but expect each commercial job to pay within their own terms.

+ 1 , But dont be afraid to chase them up if you need your money in its your money . Mike

Feels like voluntary work for me at the moment aswell.

The bigger the companies the longer it takes for them to pay iv got small companies that pay on the dot every mouth and iv got big companies that pay every 3 mouths.

I had a moan the other day i do a care home every month, hadnt been paid for invoice dated 1st mar,1st april and was there doing the may clean that day. manager got on it and they have paid by BACS ::)roll
I know these people do pay but they need encouraging now & then.. Acceptance is the key, I havee another commercial job & my biggest they are good as gold, often pay within 2 weeks! :o and definately within the month.
As DEEGE said alot of companys pay when they want anyway so as long as there is some sort of system to it, i.e you know you will be paid 2 months after invoice, once your in the swing of it its not so bad.
I used to let it stress me thinking that unless i give the job up they will always owe me a clean, but then realised if someone were to sell me this job for the value of one clean i would snatch there hand off!
I think the rule for commercial is, as long as there is some sort of rhyme or reason to there payments & you can accomodate them everything should be ok.

That post is spot on cleancare.
You get to know each job individually and soon realise its not worth stressing and chasing payment at the end of the month when payment is always made on the 5th.

Cheers for the responses...one thing im still thinking is do any of you charge a late fee/admin fee etc if payment is over due or as some of you say you get to know the job in hand and exactly when you'll be paid be it within your requested time or not
