has anyone come across dyed or painted slabs? i was doing a job today and 3 patios all cleaned fine but one patio (this is all on the same job) had riven slabs that looked a slightly different colour (a bit artificial looking but not completly obvious) and the colour was lifting off at the very lowest pressure without damaging the underlying slab, leaving just a buff riven slab. the customer is on holiday at the moment so i can't ask them sso i stopped cleaning until the get back. but has anyone else come across anything like this?

Not painted but dyed yes. I've also noticed the colour running out in the water. Nothing to worry about. If they wanna buy cheap paving slabs that are dipped in dye then expect them to fade. But those we've cleaned are a uniformed dirty appearance before we start, then once clean they'll say "I forgot there were red/yellow one's"

as an update, i just spoke with the customer and it turns out that the red colour that was washing off is "sahara red sand" that has settled on them over the years although it wasn't loose on the surface. i would never have guessed that in a million years, and is fine to wash off. i'm on the south coast of england not spain.
