got payed from a job a year later after giving them up from not paying and then asked me when i am next round to clean the windows. yer right in other words her windows are dirty and she wants them cleaned again so she fort she would pay me for the last clean so she can have me back i think i will take the money and run lol. cant believe she had the nerve to come back after a year. strange. :-X
-
that's got to be the longest time ever to wait to get payed.
-
why did you not chase the debt..?

because i could never get hold of her and i am sure when i knocked on her door she used to hide never answered her phone its so funny when u chase money and u no there in but they hide away so they don't have to pay and i cant be doing with customers like that. if u don't want a window cleaner or cant afford one then don't have one. ::)roll

had another women like that who lost her job but decide to let me keep cleaning the windows then she build up quite a bill then decided to tell me she couldn't afford it no more because she lost her job and she said she would pay me next week did i see that money no course i didn't. there becomes a point when u just have to write it off and give the job up but it does f**k me off just a tiny bit because all they have to do is tell me from the start but no they try and get as many cleans out off me as they can before they tell me and cant really see that money coming my way if she lost her job >:( what do u do in that situation anyone?

I don't clean more than twice without payment. Works for me.

I wont clean more than once anymore without payment, the first time u clean and u leave details clearly and they don't pay on time or at all.. then i wont go back. Sure of a messer in the future window cleaning business relies on clash flow.. so important that is.

Jim if you were my window cleaner, I wouldn't pay you eather ;-)

have the odd customer I let go to 3 cleans because of their work e.g. submariner, engineer on a cargo vessel, guy who travels to india / china importing stuff .......... all work away but all want clean windows for when they get home plus i give properties once over and email em if owt amiss.
3 years in and round settled and sorted and only odd customer last year binned for non payment or too slow payment

why twice................keep it to one

i go up to twice without payment, sometimes 3 times depending on the customer.i have customers who pay 6 months in advance as well.i always get roughly the same amount in takings as ive earnt at the end of the month, sometimes more due to "rolling debt".
i had one ex customer who owed me £10 from 4 YEARS AGO!!he approached me and paid and now is good as gold.i took him back on at £15 per 2 monthly clean.his wife always sends a cheque now.he said he had no idea he owed me money!i could never catch him in so just wrote the debt off after 6 months. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just had one phone up and ask to pay £24 they owe from 2 1/2 years ago and can we start cleaning again!
Yes but only when we get the £24 so she said she will bacs over £36 and will set up a SO for once a month ;D
-
SAJ, start cleaning after the payment gets SO'd.
That way you're paid in advance-always a risk of messing you about again.
Don't tell them they're paid in advance-you'll just know.

Why lose what could be a perfect customer? If she was intentionally messing you about why would she pay you? Chances are she forgot and will happily agree to be in credit from now on. All my late payers eventually get shifted on to credit only.
Bad payers become the best payers. Simples.
