The same mate that I offered to build a WFP system for, but he was happy to continue just doing traditional.
Think he might have second thoughts now.

Not sure Spruce to be honest, but the fact that he is a 14 stone bodybuilder played a part I expect
-
those ladders are garbage you need the ones with the box sides.
-

This is a ladder that hundreds of window cleaners are using all over the country.
I agree that there are better ladders on the market, but this isnt a debate about the make of ladder.
The point of the post it to reiterate the fact that people need to be careful using ladders and seriously consider going WFP.
Cheers Matt ;)

Dear oh dear when will they ever learn ?
-
But the ladder he was using is an important issue.
He was using a diy rated ladder and not a trade rated ladder.
We do not know if the ladder was faulty because we are only looking at your photos and perhaps he could of still had the fall even if using a trade rated ladder.
But the fact remains he was not using suitable equipment for the job at hand.
No excuses.

Andy...
Please for the point of this post imagine the ladder in question was a trade rated ladder.
Thankyou

im prepared to wager that its a loft ladder or ,as i said before, a childs ladder , made in the 1950s . even at 14 stone he must have had it at a strange angle to get it to crease like that
i sense a setup . could be hes tryin to claim compo
-
Did he land on the grass on impact.. Hope so!!
-
Wrong ladder, wrong angle, nothing wrong with trad but your life is worth a lot more than spending a bit on a system .
-
AS said before its a D.I.Y ladder. i have one too ;D. But since im 99.99% wft i cant be bothered to buy a trade ladder. The difference and the way we can tell is the sides are not the "boxed" type there like spindley
-
Actually on looking again its been stood on and bent the wrong way round.. How did it fold the opposite way???

I thought that, but then realised it could have gone at the bottom in which case its definitely down to it being a rubbish ladder!
-
Was your friend injured.
-
im more surprised them frames are so clean... usually tradders dodge frame work!!

I thought that Deege...
Smithie - he said he hit the ground, into a roly poly, and come away with a knock to his ankle :D
Could have been alot worse mind
-
I'd tell him to go down the shop and buy a lotto ticket cause that could of been broken bones at that height
-
Is the point of this post is to let people know that its possible to fall from
a ladder or is it not to buy rubbish equipment.
Cant believe that hundreds of window cleaners are using ladders like that its
like something you would buy from poundland.
Would he have fallen if he had been using a quality ladder.

diy ladder is not for every day use they are for occasional use. trade ladder for every day use. that ladder should not have buckled like that unless it was weakened.
-
I reckon he had the ladder at a ridiculous angle in order to get the top to rest on the sill. Went up it and it buckled and gave way.
If you're going to window clean off a ladder, why o why do people not use a double a frame ladder? They are designed and built for the job and are much safer.
For the record, I'm almost 100% wfp but still use a ladder occasionally - I would never window clean with an open ended ladder, even if its a trade rated ladder.

milty ,im prepared to donate 50 to your chosen charity if you get "the faller "to make a youtube demonstration vid explaining the incident

straighten out the ladder first
-
His words...
'Ladder started to slip so I turned leg got caught as I jumped I done a forward role down the ladder landed on it and snapped it in half'
;)

Well i'm heavier than that! Either somebody sabotaged his ladder or he got those ladders out of an oversized Kinder Surprise!
-
The ladders look like ABRU brand, we have two sets of Trade rated type. They make a DIY and Trade versions. I really can't see how you could do that to a ladder.
-
FAIR PLAY LADS, YOU HAVE BUSTED US.
I WAS IN ON HIM MAKING A COMPO CLAIM, BUT WE HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OUT CAUSE WE 'BENT' THE LADDER THE WRONG WAY!!
GET A GRIP!!

i know a few window cleaners who use them ladders.ive always used 3.5 m trade ladders apart from the first few months 20 years ago when i had a set of B&Q ladders!they were similar.too flimsy and not strong enough for regular climbing.also they easily blow over in the slightest wind!! ;D ;D ;D
i still fell off my trade ladders TWICE!landed on my heels both times.im very lucky i didnt shatter my heels or ankles or do any damage to my back.both times it was uses error.once on imprinted concrete and the second time on a wet mossy flagstone.
first set of trade ladders bent when they hit the window sill when they gave way.not as bad as the one in the pic but ruined anyway.
