I get it from time to time but this time its been the worst which has affected my work big time!! Main problem is not being able to get any footwear on!! I did manage to get an old pair of trainers on yesterday after cutting a piece of leather from the side but it was still uncomfortable to walk etc!!

Oh dear sorry to about your misfortune mate. Just glad I'm not on the ladders anymore!

Cherry juice or other red / dark berry juice drink will help.
Cutting down on the red meat , wine and beer of course.

Thanks, I hope your passes too.\
Negativity, it's the red thats brought it on. Well actually Hardys stamp red lol
-
Yes most things that are red like tomatoes, beans, etc are things to avoid!
-
you can always go the docs and get some allopurinol, one a day and it keeps your uric acid levels in check, you need to stay away from foods with a high purine content, if you google it you can download a list of dos and donts

My wife's grandad gets it...
-
stop drinking cider
Hate the stuff!!
-
Its brought on by sulphites amongst other things. You wouldnt believe how many things have sulphites in until you check the labels. They are a preservative.
As said above drink lots of water. Stop drinking cider, port and red wine. Eating lots of celery or celery tablets helped me. Havent had an attack for years now.
There is a blood test for gout that will show the presence of it in your blood. Useful to know if its gout or just bruising of the ball joints in your foot.
-
Hi ive had it a few years and i get it in my big toes.
Go doctors and get some pills to knock it out.drink lots of water avoid red meat and only drink at weekends (alcohol)
After a while you get a feel when an attacks comming and if you take some ibroprofen or whatever your doc prescribes you can knock it out before it goes full blown.
Horrible pain gout
Hope you get it sorted mate.

go to docs and ask for a uric acid blood test, you can also buy ph strips that you pee on from amazon, these tell you if your body is acidic or alkaline

The best way to get rid of this is:
Apple cider vinegar drink a glass of it and keep drinking plenty of Alkaline Water, Drink at least 3 littler of water a day water, keep drinking water and once its gone go to your doctor and get plenty of Allopurinol tablets, you just have to take these tablets for the rest of your life and change your diet.

Was tested for it at weekend in hospital as I've been having bad problems with my right foot. But it turns out I have a bad infection so on antibiotics
Same predicament though- painful to walk very far and climb ladders so I've just been out and done one no job, back home with leg up now. Been like this for 3 and a half weeks.
Feel sorry for anyone with gout as its recurrent. Best thing you can do is eat healthy if you don't already and drop the beer. Apparently wine doesn't have as direct an effect on gout as beer does. And eat less meat , try get protein from other sources .
I read up on it a lot as I was convinced I had it for last 2 weeks.
