Title: why dont things fit!!
Post by: Jettaway on May 03, 2013, 06:58:27 pm
Just bought a new kranzle 3/4 suction hose from malcleanse... Fecking thing doesn't fit to the interpump.. Arghhhh!! There both suppose to be 3/4 fittings but the suction hose connection is too large.

Why cant things be simple.. I must have more connectors and adaptors than a hydraulic store and yet I've got nothing to get these to connect,.

You may have a 3/4" hose tail but you have a 1/2"bsp into the pump

I had exactly the same problem last week when i changed from a hawk pump to an interpump. The hawk was 3/8 inlet, and the interpump is 1/2''.. i ended up with three fittings put together to make it fit..

From looks of it although the hole is 3/4, the plastic female fixing is a 1 inch fitting. The pumps a 3/4 male.

Scrap that last post. I can't work out what measurement this new hose is. Hose is 3/4 but actual connection is somewhere between 3/4 - 1 inch.

My inlet I looks bigger than 1/2, where did you get fittings from Matt? Hydraulics shop?

I have a tool box full of random fittings mate that ive collected over the years. i just had to go through them and make something up. but you should be able the take the hose into a hydraulics place and get them to sort you the right barb to fit.

from memory the inlet on an interpump is 1/2" thread.

Took it to hydraulics place but they didn't have anything.  Said it wasn't a hydraulic fitting due to the shape of the thread.

Are you talking about the low pressure inlet on the pump head?

What size is the diameter of the suction hose? Is this just to suck water from a tank to your pump?

Yeah its the low pressure pipe going into the inlet of the pump. I'll put some photos up later this afternoon.

I don't know what it is you're trying to do Chris. Can't you just jubilee clip your hose over the male? Looks like that female restricts the suction.

As lee said, just buy a male barb fitting. the bard in the size to suit the hose(probably 3/4) anf the male thread the size of the pump head (1/2") and juibilee clip the hose onto the barb.

Like this

http://www.malcleanse.co.uk/12-bsp-male-x-34-brass-hose-barb-176013-p-7153.html

But obviously get the right sizes to fit your hose/pump thread

Lee, I thought of that, but the pipe doesn't fit the over the male, there both exactly the same size. The pipe doesn't connect to the pump so washer isn't working mate. The fitting they supplied with the suction hose is a mm too big, so I just need to find the same fitting (the female photo) in a slightly smaller size.

I'm having trouble sourcing a supplier locally that sells the barbs, would consider malceanse as they do sell it but I can't wait 2 days for it to be delivered. I need to get the machine up and running Tuesday morning.

Would just be nice if the pressure washing gods lets everything fit without the need for lots of different adapters and connectors lol.

You have a hydraquip in Grimsby (amongst others) - take the machine to them and I'm sure they will have everything you need

Thanks bdcs, I tried global hydraulics which is top of the list but never thought to look for a second firm. Looks like they do the fitting too
