Title: Cleaning rubber matting ?

I have obtained  some 3mm rubber matting, but it is covered in old dry flaky silicon . . . . can any one recommend a cleaner I could use to get it clean, there is about 22 sqare metres ?

Any advice really appreciated.

Put a picture on here - if it can be cleaned with a wallpaper poultice you are in the right place!!
