dazmond!!!!!! fit the tap at the top of your pole near the brush head. you use on average 30 litres extra per day by not been able to turn flow off inbetween upstairs windows. The plus side is they last for months and months!! AND in between downstairs windows its so easy too reach too turn on and off.
hope this helps!
-
yes. i just pushed the pole hose right in & taped it round the tap no leaks been like that for months.
-
You can get the push fit taps on ebay, but with a brass fitting that fits into the pole hose. Never had a problem....

We use these valves ourselves and I find that generally they last between 2-3 years. I always carry the valve by my hand and it only occasionally gets dropped on the floor.
Dazmond from the look of the valve in the photo you can see that the black handle has received quite a bit of abrasive wear as the edges have become quite rounded. This type of abrasion and damage can lead to damage of the push-fit connection part - which is probably what has caused this issue.
Any item can be damaged quickly if it is dropped, bashed or stepped on - sometimes it can simply be where the impact happens.
There are more robust valves that can be bought, but they are generally much heavier and more bulky.
I must post a photo of one valve that we have still in use after about 5 years - it and the hose has been on 3 poles now and it looks as rough and worn as anything and yet it is still performing well, although the handle is about half the size due to wear.

Is it possible you may have a bad batch as one of the valves we had lasted only 5 minutes, The others lasted only a matter of days until they suffered the same fault as the one displayed in image
We have since ordered some from ebay and all are working fine and are several months old

i had the same problem with them and now stop using them.

We mount ours on the gooseneck which prevents damage to the valve, The downside is you cant turn off the water when pole is extended
-
I broke two within weeks. I never got on with them at all.

no user fault. dont let it drag on the ground or pull the hose right out of it when it snags.

The answer is I would not know. We buy these in a few 1000 at a time but they are made by a large Italian manufacturing firm probably in batches of 100,000 at a time. If we have one returned to us having failed prematurely, we will usually replace under warranty as long as all parts are returned and are not exhibiting signs of accidental damage. We can then throw these back at the manufacturer.
We have not noticed an increase in failed units. I've got one on a pole that's only a few months old and it's working as well as the ones that are a couple of years old.
Feel free to email me if I can help further.

The valves on this listing are exactly the same as the ones we sell. Made by the same Italian firm.
I like the brass inserts on them though.
