Just had a look at the users and noticed that we have foiur Guests.
Does this mean that Guests do not have to register and can read our posts.
The reason I ask is Today i tried to look at one of the new sites without registering to see what they had to offer.
I did not want to join as I saw no need, as I am happy with the two Forums
But isnt it strange some people moderaste two Forums
But my Question is why should it be possible to be a Guest on a Forum.
Should we not have identification for visitors.?
-
I am with you on this one Ian and it brings us back to what has been sead before ie that wye should anyone on an open forum such as this not want
to give basic information about themselves, real name, what part of country
ect. Whilst i know all the excuses for not doing so none of it washes with me,
and i repeat what have you got to hide, whats the big secret.

Halt; who goes there
I agree with both of you on this. If you have got nothing to hide, identify yourself, unless you are checking up on your opposition. Am i sounding paranoid? No i don't think so.
Around the corner from me there is an established carpet cleaner with a top end tm. As soon as i got mine, he drove round my street to see if what somebody had told him (my nephew, hes his friend) was true, and as he momentarily stopped outside my house, i popped my head out from behind my van, and boy did he have a shock and sped of quick.
Now on the other forum, if you look in the members forum, you see he is a member, hasn't actualy been active with postings, but whos to say he is not observing m postings, especially anything sensitive such as my prices etc. With all the members on here who don't post but observe, how many in your area are observing your business.
Keep your friends close and your opposition even closer.

I know Mike Boxall is reviewing the rules and plans to upgrade The Forum very soon.
But I have no more knowledge than you what the changes will be, but I think it should be impossible to visit the Forum unless you have gone through the Registratin procedure.
Given a valid address and use a name that can be validated at that Address.
Or have I gone Over the Top.?

Dave,
Doesn't what you said above actually justify the exact reason why some people DO prefer to remain anonymous!!
Personally, I think people should fill in their profiles. I can understand though, why some people, particularly if they are new to 'Forums', initially prefer anonymity until they are comfortable with it.
As for the others, well, the answer lies with your quote.

It's a funny old world aint it 8)
Im new to my area and saw the what I believe to be the main competition parked in a car park having his lunch, so much to the misis's supprise swung the van around to go and say Hi, But yep he bu**ered off quick, WHY is that, just because he's my competition doesnt make him my enemy ??? ??? ???
As far as people observing on the forums, what diffrence does it make, as we run regestered businesses our so called secrets are public knowledge, we used to use a company called enterprise trust who kept us up to date quarterly on what our rivals were doing including pricing and offers
But I would like every one to enter there details, if not out of couriosity it's good to know who the comp is, like I said there not enemys and may come in usefull on occasion

Not surprised the trouble you used to cause on Tean Clork. ;D I was there in 2001 as well. I thought I knew you from somewhere. ;)
I'm glad things worked out for you, weren't you going to pack up because of an accident or something?
-
I have said it before and i'll say it again. These competitors are not our enemies, granted, but they have one thing in common with us. They want the work. How often do you see contributions on here from the franchisees? Not very often.
But if you criticise their system they are quick to respond to it which shows they are reading the posts, but not participating in the forum.
Even if everybody had to give their details, you would still be none the wiser as to whether they were reading posts. I bet they play off their systems against ours, and we come off worst.

There appears to be a lot of paranoia regarding other cc's looking at peoples posts,am i missing something or is this not a cc's forum,if theres something you dont want the opposition to know then dont post it, simple as,
Even if everybody had to give their details, you would still be none the wiser as to whether they were reading posts. I bet they play off their systems against ours, and we come off worst.
Dave
do you not promote your system as being the best when you are talking to customers, hopefully at other cc's expense? Is this not what business is about?
-
lol, hi dennis lol, yes i had a bad smack in me van and smashed me knee to bits but they rebuilt me lol knee cap is held togerther with nine bits of wire !!! and yes i think i did get thrown off cleantalk couple times !!! but hey u know me , it be boring without me 8) think i was one of the first on there
-

True, i would not post anything on the forum that i truly believe damaging for me. Regarding the promoting of ones business over somebody elses, only on price if their system and my system are the same. Yes i would say we use a truckmount and does your other quote use the same.
When customers say i have had a quote from so and so, i don't say "Oh iv'e heard bad things about them, there rubbish".
All people are saying is if this is an open forum, then why are there 8000 members who have been members for what is approaching 3 years, yet have posted a minimal amount of responses? Let people know who you are.
Dave
-
Perhaps theyre shy ;D
-
Maybe so :-[
-
i think just be open, the competition if you use these forums corectly you will learn a lot more from other experienced cc's all around the country than you could ever dream of giveing away to your few competitors
-
seems we all agree on this, what strikes me is that its only a handful that post on these boards and yet thousands seem to watch?
how about you had to give your trading name which could be checked by the mods before your allowed to view, then just have to give your location for other members to view if they wish, as the fancise may not want to post there trading name.
