Hi all,
How do you all go about van security? surely to get water from the tank to the brush you will need a door open leaving the van unlocked? ???
what I want to do is block the side door of my van off so that when I open the side door I am faced with a control panel and water outlets and inlets.
Does anyone know what materials would be best to do this with and where I can buy them? Or does anyone have any other ideas to stop people from getting in the van while operating?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

The two usual ways are to drill down and have a piece of hose and hoselock type fitting to connect to underneath the side door or possibly underneath the rear bumper (such as Omnipole). The second way is by fitting a plate onto the side of the vehicle (á lá Brodex or Ionics) with the bits to connect hoselock too. The second way would mean drilling through the more visible bodywork I think which might be an issue when reselling.

We leave nothing of value inside and leave the doors unlocked. Obviously, the back has to be open.
I even take my baccie with me.
We've only had a few cloths pinched and nothing else in 5 years.

Hi Lee,
I built a unit all around my side door, take a look. By doing this i can work with the side door open and not worry about the poles or other contents in the back getting nicked.

We have a retractable hose outlet on the side of the vehicle on the left and right rear panels. Out the van, pole out, doors shut and away we go, works great. No doors open, no prying eyes and definately no missing items. Will try and post a photo this weekend to show you.

Andrew once again you amaze me, First the trolley and now this :o what material did you use and where did you get it?
you will be hearing more from me about the trolley as soon as I sell my car!

Wrong Andrew about the trolly ;D
I used MDF, excellent for cutting and shaping. Once all the boards where cut and in place, i gave it a coat of whote gloss, just to make it look presentable.
I am in the process of fitting another van out, will be using simillar material, but once fitted, it will all be coated with Proteca Coat (carnt remeber the exact name of it).

Thanks for the link your work looks really impressive. Oh well, better get my Mdf and sticky back plastic out and go for Blue Peter style. Does anyone have any spare toilet roll tubes? ;D
