Just been to see a potential job on behalf of a roofer! he had been pointing the chimmney stack when a piece of masonary fell down the chimmney and scattered dust and soot all over the new carpet and suite! in fact the leather suite was actually two hours old! the carpet a few weeks topps!
If it were my house i would expect a full replacement of the damaged carpets and furniture! Ive told him to ring his insurance company as the leather Analine suite alone was £5000 and although i clean leather i am not a restoration expert like GINGER Balls ! Lol

The leather shoud be fine as long as no one puts anything liquid near it!!!

cover with talc and then vacc, all soot will disappear :D

I heard you have to phone the chimney sweep and he'll get rid of all the soot!

Done loads of these jobs. No way the roofers insurer would replace everything. Soots quite easy to remove as long as nobody has messed with it. Good earner too £500 for a mornings work.

The roofers exess was £1000 but the suite was brand new and cost £3500 the carpet about £650
