Yup I do...

we live in the middle of woods, 9km from the exchange..

We have satellite internet as too far from the exchange, we also use vonage voip for the telephone..

there is a 1-2 second delay when talking, and it also seems to be in simplex, which means that both people on the phone cannot talk at the same time.

Any other questions just ask away... ;D

With vonage you can plug in any phone you like...
it also has included in the cost an answer service that emails you when you have a message and includes the message in the email. It also transcribes the message so you have it in written form.
You can block numbers ... you can block all calls if you are feeling anti-social.
All calls to UK land line are free.

you can have phantom numbers..
You can choose any area code.
Itemised list of calls and callers online.
£5.99 per month all included.

it works with any fast broadband, but I suspect BT make you have the landline in order to have the broadband.

BT like many other large utilities is dead cunning.
If you want to upgrade your package you can do it in half a dozen clicks on the net--- You cannot downgrade your package on the net.
You have to ring their call centre.
My wife was always on the phone to someone or other so we had 24/7 inclusive plus a couple of other bits. It was costing nearly £90 a quarter. When she passed I wanted to cut it down to line only, so I rang the centre and got that done. I also paid 12 months in advance top save another £50. If you do that you get free evening and weekend calls...... for £10.40 month.
Bt's best kept secret.
I only keep the line for broadband but have now gone on 3network mobile so I don't need BT at all now.

You connect a voip box to the modem or router..

I can plug any phone I want into my voip box, and currently have a BT phone with answerphone plugged in.

I have switched off the voip answer service.

Before this I had a cheap and nasty £3.00 asda phone plugged in and the voip answer service on..

Choice is yours, and depends on who your voip provider is.

It is a minefield out there, which is why I went for vonage. they send you a box. you plug it in. you put any phone you want into the box.
