It was brought to my attention earlier today that a listing containing exactly the same photos and description had been seen on Ebay... the pictures clearly show my vehicle and my contact numbers.
The person selling the item has people bidding on the item already even though this person has no feedback!
Here is the item... Ebay has been contacted and the con artist has been reported!
My prowler was sold last month to a Welsh gentleman who collected!

I`ve seen the advert today, recognized your van (watched your vids on youtube earlier on this week). Looked strange as it is advertised up north with a £500 starting bid ??? Not to mention its a very short auction.
-
I cant help but thinking that Ebay are giving these fraudsters an opportunity to rip people off... its taken me 10 mins to report this and the phone number listed doesn't allow you to talk to a human!
Some poor sod is going to get ripped off here and the first thing they will do is call the number on my van!!!
-
ive reported the item russ.
coud just be someone just being lazy and using all your pictures and text but ive reported it anyway, maybe a few other could do the same just in case, don't want one of my fellow colleagues getting ripped off, if he's to lazy to take his own pictures and descriptions then he's too lazy to look after it.
click report item, this can be found on the right just above the listing description.
report catagory..... click, listing practices
reason for report........click , fraudulent activities
detailed reason...... you suspect listing fraudulent

Well done guys... its definitely dodgy... bloke called me up today (saw my numbers in the photos) and asked if i was the guy selling it as he has previously purchased a forklift from the seller, even though the seller claims he's based in rothesay, Argyll and Bute.. the bank sort code he gave out was registered in Leicester.. didn't stop this guy from transferring £3500 to his account, and now it appears none of his emails are being answered!
-
Cant you click on Leave a question, and say that its a scam?
I dont use ebay, so just a guess
-
No... well it depends on his settings... the funny thing is... i have received a few phone calls from people asking questions about it... i just tell them the truth! the idiot forgot about the phone numbers on my van....

It's a classic scam for high value items.
I almost bought a motorhome like that. I was suspicious when they contacted me outside ebay and offered ebay protection blah blah if funds paid into an escrow account the motorhome would be released to me and then when inspected and say it's okay the funds would be released to the seller. Smelt a rat immediately and advised ebay, they confirmed the scam. You spot them regular, items listed at too good to be true prices, then the seller wants to transfer funds to escrow account, BS!
They usually can't let you view the item as they work away blah blah but really it's because they have just cloned the advert and don't have the item. But they are clever and try to assure you the escrow route is safe blah blah.

Reported it as well often they use address up north of Scotland to dissuade you from visiting
-
I have a sneeky feeling this is the same guy who was selling a ninja a few years ago, he was based n scotland,
he had genric pics etc, i won the bid , contacted him to arrange payment , i wanted to travel up to scotland with cash . not a chance he wanted money putting into acccount, after numerous calls and a little digging ,he dissapeared.
now comes the worst bit, i left him negative feedback saying he was a scammer , guess what !! he replied saying i was the scammer , wrote numerous things about me and from then on i have never tried to sell or buy on ebay because i would never get a deal because of the negatives.
What can ebay do about it, even though i reported it , telling them the situation , not a thing .
can i get the feedback removed ? not a chance , even after years .
Geoff

It would appear that Ebay would still be "earning" from the scammers? if someone won this bogus auction then Ebay still take a commission ? so its not really in E bay's interest to do much about it...
-
If the transaction is cancelled, then all fees are returned. If not, the seller pays the selling fees at the end of the month.
-
I don't think Rothsay even has a carpet cleaner but its £46 to take the van over on the ferry so a great place to put you of viewing
defo not the north of Scotland though

start again and buy a lot of 99p items, leave good feedback and they'll (hopefully) do the same in return.

I think its Billy Russell
-
Cant be Billy... nothing in my ad about the machine having a tiny blower!!!
-
Russ - remember that bargain Truvox rotary I said I had won ?
I went to pick it up on Monday night and the guy tells me it's not working.
"But it's brand new" I said.
"No, it's a refurb but I can't get it to work now"
This guy works for a cleaning company - I reckon he's nicked it from work and thought he would make a few quid, then when it only sold for £100 on ebay he's tried to back out.
He's lucky I didn't chin him, and as he's only 15 minutes up the road from me, I'm not going to let it go.

OK so i decided to send the seller a few questions posing as a potential buyer....
Hi, im very interested in this Prowler. I have a couple questions....
1, Can spare parts be bought here in the UK? If yes where from?
2, Do you have a BUY IT NOW PRICE?
3, If i won the Prowler can i pay cash opon collection?
This is the reply i got.
Hello there,
The price that i am looking for is £3,000.00 GBP. The machine is in full working condition and i won't sell it for less. If you decide to purchase it please contact me to arrange collection or delivery details. Many thanks for your interest. Cash on collection is preferred or delivery can be arranged at extra cost. Let me know what you prefer.
Kind Regards,
Mark

Listing ended.
-
I reported it earlier on today. Ebay has 10 million items for sale in the uk and it's the weekend! It says that the listing has ended because the item is no longer available, did Ebay take it down I wonder? I hope no one thinks they have bought it.
-
There are not a lot of carpet cleaners in that area. Perhaps John Kelly knows the machine.
-
What's that machine worth then? About £3K?
I'd never heard of this type of scam before.
-
Its very common. Once hapenned to us. They had a porsche worth 20k advertised for 4. It even had all our contact details on. We had 52 phonecalls that day asking if it was genuine.
-
Disgusting... and Ebay take absolutely no action! it was only because of friends sending the suspect seller messages whch pressured him in to removing the auction... Ebay did nothing to help me..
-
Dodgiest person I've brought anything from was Russ ;) lol . Steve you should have chinned him ;) del

You know when something sounds too good to be true?
So many con artists out there just out to stitch anyone up it would seem... Ebay nor the police could give a toss...
Report the guy to his cleaning company Steve!!!
