Title: positioning of pumps etc
Post by: TomCrowther on April 13, 2013, 08:17:08 am
I got the new van yesterday and am fitting it out this weekend. Got an 800 litre tank, two pumps, two controllers etcetera, all from Gardiners but would appreciate advice on how to position the pumps and stuff.
I know to have the pumps close to the floor, and I have John guest fittings on the pumps so I can take them inside easily if it gets extremely cold in the winters.
How should I fix the pumps? Any pics of what you did greatly appreciated.

Put pics up of your tank in the back of your van and we'll tell you. We don't know if its in a frame or strapped in etc

I just fitted both my pumps to a bit of ply and wedged it on the floor, between the tank and the van wall.  Works fine, and when it's due to get below -4 C, I take the pumps indoors; very easy since it's mounted on ply and I've attached a small plug to the wires which means I just unplug it, undo a jubilee clip and the whole shebang comes in side.

It doesn't look very pretty, but it's 100% functional.

Cheers Luther, it's not in yet. Two coats of paint on the floor last night, will put the tank in tomorrow. Going to strap it in at first and possibly bolt it in later.

Not handy, but it's very simple.  A large bit of ply, say two foot by 1 foot square, screw your pumps on 'em side by side, join 'em up and bob's yer uncle.

Do you have them horizontal on the floor or vertical on the side of the van/tank Tosh?

Pumps should be fitted vertically.
