Title: Building owner fined for H&S breach.
Post by: SunShineCleaning on April 12, 2013, 06:24:02 pm
I'm looking to build up a portfolio of building managers/owners suffering financial loss because of failing to comly with H&S.
Has anyone any good examples they have come across?

Try Lincoln college bud.
Cant remember the cleaners (Grants or Nic(h)ols?) but the window cleaners had an accident 5 or so years ago on site and their paper work didn't reach the standard required.
Cleaners got fined (a reported) £15k. College (again, reported) £100k!
Put the willies up a few educational premises our way. I ended up doing quite well out of it!

Thanks Lanes. I found it but the figures reported are less.

I have found some good examples and posted them on my Facebook business page.

There's going to be a massive one down my way. Crane driver drove into overhead cables and electrocuted himself.

Apparently he wasn't the driver after all.    http://www.constructionenquirer.com/2013/03/20/banksman-electrocuted-as-crane-hits-power-line/

I've often wondered how long it will be before one of us does the same with a carbon pole.

Sunshine-can you post the link with the Lincoln College stuff you found please?
Chinese whispers round here-you know how it is!
I'd be interested in the actuals...

I think a guy in the USA fried himself with a wfp to cable contact. Can't remember where I saw it.

Miles out of what I heard then!
I think it's the fact that they were in the wrong has done them more damage though.
All the best
