Title: 600metres of gutter hotel
Post by: richywilts on April 12, 2013, 05:54:31 pm
ive been to quote a hotel today with 600 metres of gutter rammed to the top with debris

there only typical normal house types gutters with few awkward one which may need cherry picker for

what price would you go in at for 600 metres excluding the price of cherry picker

£13 less vat for the lot. The same as your groupon deals. :)

(Joking of course, just getting it in there before someone else does)

If i had a tyre puncture on my van i personally would pull over and change the tyre.

Same as if i had staffing issues i would fix the staffing problems before quoting for 600 meters of gutter clean and clear.

Just saying  ;)

Good luck richy

Richy, how long have you been in this trade? You have a massive round, loads of staff and yet can't ever make your own decisions. Surely you must know how to quote by now?

In all honesty it would be impossible to even give a ballpark figure from your description of the job. No mention at all of access issues, height, time restrictions, payment terms etc etc.  All would need to be factored in for anybody to give an accurate price.

So lets say £80 for the skip and £200 for the cherry picker that he said he will probably need. So far we are down to £570 for 600m of gutter clearing. Less than £1 per metre. Sound about right?

Why would the 'price come DOWN a fair bit' because the job is BIG??? ??? :-\
If its a job worth £30p/h, if its one hour, it's £30. If its 50 hours, it surely got to be £1500?  ::)roll

Dont you charge less per panel if its a big job  then Steve?

Biggest we've done is around 300 meters, with out checking each bit you can never be too sure of how bad it may be!

We charged £1 per meter and then added £50 on just to be safe  ;D
We had a gutter vac and it only took a couple of hours in the end luckily but could have been far far worse!!!

Then again we did another gutter clean on a 4 bed detached just a straight forward 2 high level runs(1 front and 1 back) and one lower run half way across front charged £30, should of taken 15/20 mins with the Vac ended up the roof tiles had moved forward and even the thin vac pipe wouldnt fit and had to use a ladder to move tiles and help guide vac pipe, MISSION!!!!  Took about 45 mins in the end at least!

Id say go in slightly heavy as like you say if they are all full, it WILL be a right pig to do!

Good luck

Thats what I would have thought. Thats the impression I get when there are threads on here about pricing commercial solar panel cleaning.

Well £30 an hour on windows is rarely £30 an hour every hour. If it's a big job then you'll be there all day and can reduce the hourly rate if desired and still earn the same money as a mixed day on the windows.
