Title: Hot box for pressure washer
Post by: TN Cleaning Services Ltd on April 09, 2013, 08:35:31 pm
I bought this hotbox cos i thought it would be good to have some heat,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOT-BOX-240-WATER-BOILER-15LTRS-MIN-PRESSURE-WASHER-/180518854096?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:GB:3160
Do i still need to run it on petrol or diesel? cos its got a fuel pump with filter.
I thought it was electric?
Or am i just being a total thicko?
Tim.

You will need a  pressure washer,240/110 electric supply, and some cherry. You will also need to fix it  to something trailer, van or trolley.

Ive got a Metal green 20 litre diesel jerrycan.
Can i fill that up and run it straight off that?
or do i need to get a proper type of tank for diesel?
Also, how do i know if its supposed to run on diesel or petrol?
Theres 2 fuel pipes for flow and return, do i just put both into the diesel tank?

Yes the jerrycan will be ok. Yes two pipes back  into it.
I would not recommend running on it petrol ......although the outcome could be interesting!!!!

Your generator runs the fuel pump, motor and fan etc.
Suck your red diesel from a 5 gallon drum, the 2 hoses into the drum, one is the return when the burner is idle.
You can adjust the fuel intake on the pump to make it hotter, this is done with an alan key. If it feels hot enough then it's been set in the right place, if not then tweek it.

When finished using heat, turn burner off and continue to run pressure washer until run cold, this is to cool down the coil. Never stop both together whilst hot so keep an eye on water level, if your low and you know you need to go away to fill up, run cold through as you know you need to turn the burner off.

Keep an eye on fuel level too, you don't want to run your fuel pump dry, it will seize up.
Also when you come to use the next time you may have a bit a black smoke, this will be unburnt fuel in the burner.

Just out of interest, where about a does a hot box go? I assume cold water goes through your pump, then through the hot box and then out to the high pressure hose and lance.

Yes pump boiler hose. Would the OP really spend £800 quid and not really have too much idea of what they were buying and its workings ? Would the firm they bought it from not be able to offer some advice ? I have a very good condition 15 ltr boiler on an Exchange engineering trolley, cover, fuel tank full control kit and relief v/v for £500. I have a 21 ltr boiler on its way  ;D
