Thanks to Russ Chadd for yet more work ....... already had 3 small rugs added to hallway carpet clean last week, due to cat urine that went further than predicted ..... now booked a carpet clean after a dog went for a wee but have added two 2 seat sofas into it. This UV torch that I got last week, has already generated more than it's value, simply by proving the urine had got onto items that never showed it up. ;D

Chris,
Which one is it?

I have to say this tool is brilliant, had mine a short while and already has come in extremely useful already. I've had 2 urine associated jobs this week and it has allowed me to precisely detect the source and deal with it quickly.
Highly recommend it tbh. The client's are also impressed that their issue has been resolved in such a professional, swift way. Be lost without it now!
IMO we should all be carrying these tbh - it is our job afterall.
Well done Russ.

It does make 'extracting the urine', even more straight forward ::)roll

i have one of these high power LED torches already, it looks like you can get the UV led bulbs for them for about a tenner - i paid about 30.00 for the torch - you could easily get the torch & separate bulb for half the cost of that UV set up
search for Ultrafire or Surefire for the torches and then UV bulb for the separate bulb, then you have an ultra bright torch and the UV option as well. The torches are great for mountain bikes and alike in the dark, they give out massive white light

Anyone can buy a standard high powered torch for £30.00... however this kit uses the best individual components available including the UV module and high powered lithium batteries... its still cheaper than the Larry Cobb torch and mine comes with higher capacity batteries!

Was shown a cheapo version yesterday and it was rubbish ........was a complete waste of money in comparison with my one that worked better from standing position, than his did from inches off the ground :o

What other things can you use this light for except urine detection?
-
Did i read Schweppes Tonic water can give positive reaction ...
could be just Schweppes you guys are detecting ;D
-
Have not had one for a long time but we used to use them for blood contamination on a certain contract we used to have.

I now discover that it highlights semen ........ this was explained to me and not by trial & (VERY BAD) error :o

Some interesting stuff here :
Here is Larry's torch set : http://www.cobbcarpet.com/uvstain.html
So when using oxidisers the UV light actually accelerates the reaction...
Some interesting comments on TMF... http://www.truckmountforums.com/threads/uv-lights-vs-steam-iron-for-stain-removal.35546/ (http://www.truckmountforums.com/threads/uv-lights-vs-steam-iron-for-stain-removal.35546/)
And this explains what Oxidisers do....

lol - you werent reading right. You can get the Ultrafire torches (which is what i have and you have) for around the 30 quid mark - thats a high power new age LED torch with lithium batteries - they are imported from China, they have been available for years coming in high lumens & different names like Surefire, Ultrafire, Cree etc. I have used mine for mountain biking for 3 years. This guy has just inserted the UV LED bulbs and rebranded them as a carpet cleaning specific tool. Thats what people do, then make a good mark up & we buy as we think they are made for purpose just for us. Fair play to him, its a great idea and works, these torches give out more light than a car headlamp and its pure white light with the standard LED.
If you want to pay over 100 quid for one and tell yourself you have something different then go for it!!

Now you have let the balloon down :-X

New look, I am not interested in this for the UV but for my mountain bike with the LED.
I have looked up the brand you mention and they are like anywhere from £60 to £200
Which model is a good one for £30? Sounds like a great torch for mountain my bike.

New Look... What is the objective of your post? ???
Are you some how suggesting that i am in some way misleading people or tricking people into buying my torches? all i have done is take the best components available to supply a good quality and well performing torch, i have clearly stated the spec of each component and never have i made any false claims.
They do a great job and that's why people are buying them, the price is fair considering how much they cost to import, then the duty involved and the £8 handling fee Parcel Force charge me!
On top of that i post these kits out using recorded delivery (and the Royal mail has just put their prices up)
So what's the problem?
-
lol, sorry i didnt realize you were the one selling them on ebay!!! the topic doesnt say that - i just thought you had found them on ebay!!! :-X
I agree, its a good idea and good luck to you - i wouldnt of said anything if i knew you were trying to push em on here. The UV bulbs are hard to get without buying from China
Craigp, a lot of people get em from dx.com but you are buying from abroad on there - i have heard good things about them and i think generally you are ok buying from there but have to wait a little longer for delivery. If you want one in the UK, go on ebay and search for Ultrafire, Surefire, Trustfire or Cree. Then click buy it now tab, then UK only and work your way up from the bottom - depending on how many Lumens you want they start from about 15.00 upwards. Here is a monster of one at 30 quid (3800 lumen) in the UK but you will need to get your own batteries and charger -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TrustFire-3800-Lumens-x3-CREE-XM-L-T6-TORCH-SEARCH-LIGHT-UK-STOCK-/321090289681?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item4ac2790011
The 3000mh batteries last the longest but you will need spare batteries for mountain biking as they will only last about 30mins on full power before you need to charge em again (the batteries are 18650 type.) Also make sure the charger they come with charges them individually and stops charging when they are full - lithium batteries are temperamental and will explode if not charged right!!
Just google and trawl ebay - you have the knowledge!
